My wife and I live in the neighborhood and LOVE mexican food. We've tried to like this place SO hard, but can no longer give them any more money. The list of faults is too long, but essentially the food is just OK and yet we have been double charged for food, treated like we were invisible and generally received bad service. Don't give these guys your hard earned dollars, they just don't deserve them.

I've been here once and found the food and service to be average. It had a nice atmosphere, which I do think counts in terms of overall dining experience. But I don't expect to be back given that I can find better food, better service, and an equivalently nice atmosphere elsewhere for a better price.

I have been to Zapatista twice. I think on both times food has been good but on the second time the enchiladas were somewhat dry and not as warm as they should be. So if you are looknig for something very authentic you might want to change place. However, Zapatista is nicely mixed in styles.. a mexican restaurant but also a kind of trendy place to hangout. What i really like is the decor and the warm colours and the warm atmosphere.

Been there twice and I think its overrated, or at least overpriced. There are tons of spots in Chicago with MUCH better Mexican for a third of the price. Their apetizers and guac. is admittedly good as is their drink list (including micheladas and sangria as well wine), but for the price! Hard to go back because it just ain't 30$ Mexican.

this place is really good. I'm originally from San Antonio, Texas, so I know good Mexican food! A tad pricey, but this is Chicago! The food is really tasty, I've never had a bad meal here! The beef steak is awesome, the cut they use for their dishes is YUMMMMY! The Guacamole is amazing, in fact, may be the best in the city!

Ate there right after it opened. The food was good, but still needed improving.
