Authentic South Indian
As a South Indian, I can vouch that this place is authentic. As you might guess from the name, the dosas and sambar have a distinct Mysore taste (not Tamil Nadu or Kerala). My parents who visited from India also thought it was authentic. Don't bother with the North Indian dishes - they're terrible. But the dosais are great. The vadais used to be good but lately they haven't been serving them fresh. The thali is nothing to write home about... For years now I have kept going back to Udupi to fulfill my masala dosai cravings! Don't expect the waiters to tell you what's what on the menu... this is a restaurant that isn't designed for people who are new to South Indian food. Do your research before you go... don't go there and ask for naan, or worse, for tandoori chicken. It is neither South Indian nor vegetarian! Order one of the dosais or idli (though the latter is not universally appealing).
