Tropic Island in Chatham (King Dr) has the absolute best tasting, most authentic Jerk Chicken in the city. I've tried a couple of other places and they pale in comparison. The sauce, bread and plantains are always perfect and on point. In recent years, they've added a buffet/type counter where you can order pre-cooked items and sides. If you're feeling a little adventurous, try the meaty Ox tails or excoveitched Red Snapper! Don't forget to wash it all down with a Ting.

I have been eating the Jerk Chicken at Tropic Island for years! I only go to the location on King Drive. They've recently opened one in the Calumet City/Lansing area, but I go out of my way to return to the King Drive location. Best Jerk Chicken you'll ever have!!! The location and atmosphere on the inside leave a lot to be desired, but I've always gotten my Jerk to-go. The hot-and-spicy jerk sauce is served on the side, so it's up to you to make it as spicy as you like. But, all food is cooked on an outdoor grill, even in the dead of winter! Check this place out--you will not be disappointed!

This is the best Jerk Chicken Restaurant in Chicago!!! The food and service is excellent, and you will definitely get your money worth!!!! However, the location is rough.

I used to frequent this small diner-like establishment when I worked in the area a few years back. This place has the best jerk chicken in the city. The atmosphere is very casual. Not a place to take a date. Unfortunately I haven't went back simply b/c of the location. I wish they had more locations
