Sometimes Good, Sometimes Bad
First time I went there the food was good and I was pleasantly surprised but the second I went I was given the wrong thing and it lacked any substance. The impression I got was that I came in too late and they ran out of ingredients. I was so disappointed that day. I called to inform them that I received the wrong item and the only thing the girl who answered had to say was "oh, I'm sorry". I expected to be offered something else or a discount or something not just an "I'm sorry".

Very poor food. Been wronged many times.
I work around the corner from the Tokyo Lunch Boxes on Van Buren. Even though I have been going here for years, I am going to stop. I have wasted too much money on way too many terrible lunches there. For some reason I always get the vegetable gyoza and they are always so bad. The first time I had them, they were great, and have not been good since. Guess I am a slow learner. They are supposed to by crispy but instead they make a whole bunch of them at 10am and they sit in their own steam until I waste my money on them at 12:30. Yuck! Im over it.

Good and affordable
Good choice for take out sushi in the loop. I've been to the locations on Wells, Van Buren and Jackson and they are consistently good. Nice selection (more than just california rolls!). Price is par for lunch in the loop - unless you're at McDonald's it'll be about $8 no matter where you go. Highly recommended.

Love this place
This place has great food and wonderful service. I love the trials while you are waiting in line. Definately take this to go since there is only one table in the middle that everyone shares (that should add to an authentic atmosphere, right?) and a few seats by the window. Excellent food and such a nice change from the usual fried variety! Going there for lunch today!

Fresh & Fast
I'm not sure why one reviewer said the sushi is "frozen" you can watch them make it while you wait! (There is a selection of pre-made-up bento boxes in the case for lunch, but that's just to handle the crowd, I'm sure, and there's no reason to expect that the maki/shashimi in the boxes is any less fresh than the special orders.) Everything tastes fresh., the variety is good, and the staff is friendly enough (not everyone speaks very good English) (although it would be very helpful if they posted the menu, to make it obvious that you can order rather than just pick out a box). I go to the one on Wells in the Loop not much on atmosphere, but very convenient!

Not Bad
Good enough food for the price. The staff is always nice and will answer questions. The one in the south loop is very small and cramped - I always get to go. There is no menu to speak of, or rather it's scattered in random places all over the walls. It took severl trips to realize they serve much more than just sushi. It's a nice change from burgers, pizza and bad chinese.

they spell udon U-DONG!
they spell "udon" U-DONG! frozen-thawed self served sushi. Soba lacked flavor. good to grab a quick bit if nothing else is in the area. Korean ran Japanese restaurant, that should say enough.
