I consider myself a foodie, I enjoy living a vegan lifestyle and on occasion I indulge an allow someone to cook a meal for me. I purchased a Groupon and although the terms on the Groupon states to place my order online, I called. The gentleman explained what was for dinner. So, I ordered a dinner for my husband and I. The dinner included pepper steak (wheat gluten-the texture was similar to steak as far as I can remember), gravy (smooth and silky with a complex flavor that will remind you of your mum's and/or grandmother's home cooked meals). Fluffy brown rice, Lima beans to die for, kale greens, and I choose soup over salad. They top the meal off with a cube of fresh baked vegan cornbread, it was not to dense, it was soft and yet it heald it's shape WITHOUT being hard and dry. We were enjoyed the meal immensely. I would highly recommend the dinners as I have it on my to do list to return and order off of the menu.

Vacationing in Chicago from Dallas TX it was suggested that i try this restaurant. it took almost an hour bus ride from downtown but WOW was it worth it. I ordered the Memorial Day Special and got so much food and variety. The vegan BBQ was great. I could have been happy with a huge bowl of the greens They were the best! Atmosphere was good and the service was great. I am glad I made the trek to the OSV. I will eat there again if I am in Chicago and will recommend it to my friends, vegan or not.

My first time here and worth the trek! Found street parking. 3ish blocks from highway. Gentleman at front register very nice welcoming. I got the dinner special take out which seemed a tad pricey at $11.50 but it's more food that you get for $10 at the Green Festival. Bbq tips (yum!), creamy potato salad (fine), collards (yum!), corn, and chili (pretty good, even found a mushroom). Got mac n' cheese to go. Surprised to get corn on cob in March, doesn't seem appropriate. I was encouraged to return for Sunday dinner buffet (or smthg like that with many options). Will be back with veg friends. Thank you.

I LOVE the Soul Vegetarian Restaurant. The food is amazing, fresh and well presented. My favorites are the parsley salad (when available) falafels and hebrew fries. But over the years, I've had a lot a the menu items and I have always enjoyed anything I've ordered. I'm getting hungry thinking about it. The fresh juice bar next door is great too. I highly recommend The Soul Vegetarian East.

The food is seasoned and presented very well. However, the service makes it not worth the ride, don't be on ur lunch break. U wait and wait. I may give them another chance. Idk

(excerpt) I ordered the dinner special for $11.99 but unfortunately they were out of the Lentil Carrot soup so I got the veggie noodle instead. I also ordered 2 sandwiches to go for the red eye-ish flight out of Midway at a rolling departure time of between 2130 and 2330. I so wanted a BBQ twist sandwich but they were out so I ended up with the Prince Elkannon (Garvey) Burger. I generally shy away from burgers but I had a few bites in the plane and downed it later at 3am and it was divine with sauteed mushrooms and onions in a sweet whole wheat bun. Later I also had a few bites of my Jerkfu Wrap, (a caribbean delight made with sautéed onions bell peppers and our specially seasoned jerk tofu, wrapped in a spinach tortilla). this sauce reminded me of the sauce boneless spare ribs used to come in ... sweet and succulent.
