Love it all!
The nile is my favorite middle eastern resturant. They achive ballanced flavors that I have not found anywhere else. It's a family owned joint where they take care of you. Go check it out.

Good value
Quality control. Good price. Eating in restaurant is okay, but delivery is still a true bargain. No nonsense service. Staff does its job, expects you to do yours. Chicken shawerma (sandwich or meal) is a favorite in our home. Favorite feature: Red Lentil Soup has been the soup de jour every day now for at least the last four decades.

Great place at a good price
The Nile is a great middle eastern restaurant serving close to authentic dishes that I used to eat when I lived in the middle east. The Chicken Shawarma is awesome. The portions are a good size and have a lot of veggies. The lentil soup is also very good.

Almost as good as grandma's
Now I'm not allowed to say anything comes close to matching grandma's cooking, but the Nile is pretty effing close. I highly recommend the hummus with lamb, lamb shawerma and tabouli. I grew up around the corner from this place, and I'm pretty much addicted to their food. I have never had a bad meal there, or been displeased with the service. For non-Hyde Parkers, consider grabbing food from here and eating it on the rocks at the point it's just awesome. For those of you from Hyde Park who haven't done this, give it a try. Yummmmmy!

Hands down, the best in HP
I had heard that there was an amazing restaurant scene in Chicago. Coming from NYC to Chicago, I must say I was a bit skeptical. The first day my brother took me to the Nile and I was overwhelmingly surprised. The food was fantastic and it was also right around the corner. I've been here for about 7 months and order from this spot 2-3 times per week. Nothing to say about the decor but the service is great and I like seeing the same waitress everyday. The owner is very gracious, hopefully you'll have an opportunity to chat with him. I haven't tried everything because I'm hooked on a few items, I highly recommend: Hummos with Chopped Lamb Shish Kabab Beef Kifta Kabab and definitely get the entree, it comes with warm bread and a great salad (I don't usually order the soup. this is usually the first place we take guests for a good, hearty dinner.

Good and Homey
Good middle-eastern standards like hummus, falafel, schwarma, and kefta along with a few more interesting dishes like hummus with chopped lamb, fried pan, and the excellent chicken mosakhan. The portions are generous; I'm a big eater and with an entree (including soup/salad, pita, vegetables, and rice or potatoes) usually leaves me with leftovers. A cup of their tasty lentil soup and an order of falafel makes a good $5 light meal. Also, they fresh squeeze their juice and prepare middle-eastern coffee (though the coffee varies in quality), making a drink a worthy addition to a meal. The atmosphere is very relaxed, though with only one server, waits for food can be a little long, especially on weekend nights when University of Chicago students and faculty join the usual crowd of locals.

Mmmmm
The best hummus I've ever tasted (and I've tasted quite a lot.) Great value, too; I highly recommend the Nile.
