Hidden Backyard Patio
I'm a regular here. Super friendly staff. Intelligentsia coffee. Smoothies, sandwiches & pastries. (cupcakes from Southport grocer - yum!) Tasty homemade soups. Try the cranberry vinaigrette on your salad. Free wifi attracts a lot of folks; but if you're gonna use the free service, at least buy something instead of bringing your own. Even though it can get crowded, it's a table-sharing culture here. Just ask if you can share the table. People here are more than happy to make room. If there's no space or if you're just looking for a place to sit outside, check out the seating in back. Support your neighborhood small business!

Percolating place
I went at about noon on a Friday-it was nice to see bustling sidewalk and indoor crowds-baked goods looked great-however, there seemed to be a long wait for wi-fi and of course, parking is less than optimal. Brings back quality neighborhood feel without pretensions.

fantastic food, fantastic staff
I love this place!!! The food is truly fantastic, interesting sandwiches (the french melt is decadant), and amazing homemade soups. I originally came in here for coffee and baked goods every morning and have just recently started eating lunch once in a while. Great value at 6 to 7 bucks. The staff is super nice and not pretentious or "too hip". Sometimes it gets sorta overcrowded, but it's a small price to pay for having a fantastic cafe walking distance from my house.
