    Overpriced, Old and Tired

Other than the servers (who are incredible), the decor and the menu is overpriced, tired and old. The lunch cafe food is just awful. How bout mixing it up and trying something new for a change?

    Get the Onion Soup

I love the grill room. It's big and has an inviting environment. The Onion Soup is simply fantastic. They have an amazing burger. Their salads are large and filling and the fried calamari is excellent. I can't say much about anything else, becuase I always get the same things when I go, becuase I know its going to be great. A little bit pricey, but not too over the top. I am a huge fan and would direct anyone here for pretty much anything. They also have a great staff and do well with big groups and catered parties. Also, free refills on soda, which is always a nice thing. Two thumbs up.

Not as good as you'd think

I went to the Grillroom for lunch with some co-workers a few weeks back. Located right in the loop, I have to believe that the fact that the restaurant was so crowded had to do more with it being a convenient lunch location for all the LaSalle, Chase and Harris bankers rather than with the quality of the food or service. The waiters aren't the most attentive, with the service being comparable to a good IHOP experience. The food also isnt what one would expect. I ordered one of the specials on the menu. It came with a skimpy piece of fish, a fried and blackened piece of fish skin that I had no idea what I was supposed to do with, and a serving of salmon tartare that would leave a teaspoon still feeling hungry. I followed it up with a salad that also left me disappointed and a little grossed out, but at least full. However, I have heard from a reliable source that the $22 pork chops are a must have. Perhaps when lunch is on someone else, I'll give them a try.
