This is a student-run restaurant at a school that exists to form chefs. The room isn't pretentious, in fact it is about the only thing that hints that you are not at a fine-dining restaurant in the traditional sense. The service is provided by culinary students who are eager to provide a top-notch experience, and they do not disappoint. The food is prepared by culinary students under the supervision of a teaching chef, and also does not disappoint. Portions are more typical of a European restaurant (they are not supersized) but my typical American appetite was well satiated with the 5-course dinner option. Wine offerings are limited but again, I wasn't disappointed. The prices are difficult to believe... $15 for a five course meal, wine was similarly inexpensive. The only thing to keep in mind is that these are students putting their heart and soul into the food and service, so I would hope that patrons would tip not according to the (insanely low) bill, but commensurate with what one might tip at a fine restaurant where the bill would be five times what you pay here. Basically, if you tip 100% of the bill, you are still walking away with an unbelievable bargain... but even a 50% tip would just make these kids' day and wouldn't break the bank.
