Tavern on Rush

This place used to be top notch. You would think with all the competition in the area, TonR would try hard to please every customer with quality service and food. The service was just OK. I have no negative comments but was not impressed at all. Service at other restaurants in the area is far more superior to this place. They really need to try harder to compensate for mediocre food. The food was disappointing from start to finish. Appetizers were expensive but just as good as your local pub. I was really disappointed with my entry, the steak. Now I know it is possible to have a bad steak experience in Chicago. I ordered a filet which should be soft and juicy, my steak was dry and tough. I really couldn't even eat it. The rest of my party was not impressed. It’s a great area with many places to choose from.

I recently went there on my 40th birthday for dinner and had one of the best steak dinner I have ever had. Every thing about that restaurant expresses class. It may not be cheap but the food is definately worth the money.

First I must compliment our waitor, excellent service. Steak was as good as steak can get. Quality beef cooked perfectly. Apps we ordered were a little expensive for small servings but tasted amazing. Truely a fine steakhouse with great selection of seafood.

If your looking for fine quality fresh food, this is your place. I have nothing negative to say about it. The food was top notch. We started with a mixed seafood appy and every piece was cooked perfectly. Moved to the porterhouse medium rare, one of the best steaks i've ever tasted. The service was alert but not as polite as we would have liked. They did however do their job well and even recommended a fine bottle of wine which complimented our entire meal. Prices might be high for some but being from NYC I'm used to shelling out for quality. We were seated next to NBA's Juan Howard and Rod Strickland who seemed to be enjoying there meal as well. I will definitely be back.
