Great Bargain!
Great Food, Reasonable Prices. The fact that it's BYOB makes this my favorite steakhouse in Chicago. The prices and food quality are equivalent, if not better, than any of the premier steakhouses, and you won't have to pay $30 for a $10 bottle of wine. I've been there a few times and could take or leave the service, but as for the reader who was asked to leave, I'm actually happy to hear that the staff would do that because there is nothing worse than waiting for a table when a large group of people won't have the manners and etiquette to realize they should leave a crowded restaurant once their meal is finished – especially one where they're not even spending money on more wine or drinks. Another great thing, if you’re waiting for a table, they will take down your cell phone number and call when its ready so you could wait in one of the Southport bars rather than outside the door.

Good Food but Very Rude!
I had been to Tango's once before and enjoyed it very much, therefore I decided to make reservations on a Friday for several friends, co-workers and me to enjoy a laid back meal and bottle of wine after work. The reservations were for 6:30 for 6 of us. The food was good although 3 of us had to return our raw "medium" cooked steaks. We were having a good time until around 9:30, about 15 minutes after receiving our check, when the hostess approached our table and informed us that we needed to leave because there was another reservation that needed the table. WHAT?!?! After spending over $200, they asked us to leave so they could have the table. I, as well as my guests, was appalled by the audacity of this woman. I am sure if anyone reading this has ever worked in food service, you are equally as astounded. The food is good, but not in any way so good that it justifies being treated in such a manner. Unfortunately, you probably should not plan on dining at Tango's if you are in a hurry either because although the waiters are very polite and courteous, the service is extremely slow. This restaurant has certainly lost 6 customers that night.

Greatest Place on Earth
Tango Sur has the most delicious steak in the world. It is so tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor. As another reviewer mentioned, the vacio is the way to go. It's smothered with delicious chimichurri and served over sweet potatoes so unbelievably tasty that they changed my entire opinion about a vegetable that I previously had no interest in. With a steak for two being only $32 and byob an option, the value is the best in the city. The atmosphere is hilarious too. We waited 2 hours in the cold with a bunch of other drunken desperate people and it was actually a lot more fun than we thought it would be. So definitely go with a huge bottle of Concha y Toro and try the vacio. P.S. Tango Sur is for foodies and cool people only!

Needs some improvement!
Delicious food. Big portions. Not expensive. It’s BYOB. Nice music. Romantic atmosphere.Good service until some point though. After 7 p.m. it got so crowded and so-o-o loud, that we were not able to enjoy their great food and hear people we came with. That was also the time when our 4 different servers (who needs 4 of them?!)got kind of indifferent and didn't pay attention. We just could not wait to leave when it got so loud there. And one candle on the table is not enough to see what you have on your plate or read the menue. There are too many too small tables there. We'd rather pay more for the food, but do not have to listen to people's attempts to talk through that noise and feel the elbows of people sitting at the next table.

Great Atmosphere
This place has a great feel to it. The tables are lit by candle sticks which burn out by the time dinner is over, forming a puddle of was on the table. The food was very good. However, it is not a restaurant fit for a romantic date. It is more of a "go with 10 of your closest friends" kind of place. Also, it is kind of unfortunate that they don't have many side options. Thye only had mash potatoes. If they would serve rice and beans along with meat this place would be perfect. We recommend making reservations 2-3 weeks in advance. It is very popular but small place so it fills up fairly quickly.

Authentic and affordable!
The food is sooooo delicious! I love the eggplant appetizer, dripping with yummy olive oil and garlic. And the personal grills for two that come to your table are fantastic. The vacio is to die for; a really good cut of meat soaked in olive oil and garlic with sweet potatoes. There is usually enough left over to take home for a whole other meal for two. The waitstaff is very attentive... and cute, I might add! The ambience is romantic as well. I love the candlelight, and the live spanish guitar make it an experience that will have you coming back for more. Oh, and don't forget to finish with a steaming cup of mate, which is a traditional argentinean drink similiar to tea. Perfecto!

Best value steakhouse in town
The quality of the food and the cooking at Tango Sur are on par with the best steakhouses downtown, and the steaks are about half the cost. Combine that with the seductive atmosphere, BYOB policy, and delicious appetizers, why go anywhere else? It's worth the wait in the summer, and as I found out this past winter, it's worth the trudge through a foot of snow.
