How can this place have a decent rating?
Scary to see reviewers on here think the food is good. It makes me wonder about the rest of the reviews on here. My issues are the food is BLAND. Someone forgot to add *flavor* and spice as an ingredient. This place begs the rule - Asian Fusion doesn't work. Chinese can't make decent Japanese. Vietnamese can't make decent Korean. The problem is they aren't sticking to what they know. The Tom Yum is one of the most bland Tom Yum's I've had in my life. And to top it all of the price is ridiculous! Overpriced and flavorless - that's Tamarind.

everything was great...
had 5 different kinds of sushi rolls (6each), summer rolls (a little big for chopsticks), and a great "citrus garden" soup that i recommend to anyone for a fresh soup. service was fantastic and personal. atmosphere was average and location was a little far from downtown/navy pier/hotel area. otherwise, everything was perfect! $40 for two with drinks and a table full of culture. recommend this place for vietnamese, thai, sushi, and indian. extensive menu, fair prices. few dishes over $15 and large portions. too.

Good food, overpriced
We usually get delivery or carryout, so I can't really rate the atmosphere. The food has been consistently good, but a bit more costly than other good restaurants in the area and not really worth the extra money.

Great food at a reasonable price
I've been to Tamarind a few times for dinner and I have been impressed every time. The food is fresh, presented beautifully, and very reasonably priced. The menu is extensive and includes Japanese, Chinese, Thai, Korean, and Indian items. The place is quite popular, so reservations are a good idea and the servers can get a little busy during the rush. All in all, this is one of my favorite places in Chicago and highly recommended.

It was amazing
We were in a group of 5 and had Phil as a waiter, pretty cute I might add. The food was amazing! The presentation was amazing as well. I believe that we got a huge amount of food for a great price. The sake wasn't my favorite, but still semi good tasting non the less! I would recommend this place to anyone!

Kinda of Bland and Overpriced.
Their food lacks flavor. Spice. Ingrediants. It' pretty expensive too. You can't get out without spending at least $12 on lunch.

more positive than negative
great food at an okay price, but the service wasn't all that great except for our waiter. the boss never came around our table to ask how everything was going, but went to all the other tables. celebrating our friends birthday with a big group of people, we had to move around twice to find enough room for us. but even the second time we had to add more chairs fitting in 14 people. people in the restaurant seem to think we should be in the restaurant just cause we are teens and that we can't pay for it. but other then all this negativity we had a fun time and good music, food and waiter service. never a time when there was empty glass, always there refilled just in time. friends thought we had a cute waiter that looks like justin timberlake. overall the positive things were better than the negatives.
