Don't get me wrong...the food is good. It's just too Americanized to be called Authentic Mexican Food. I've been to this place more than a few times. It's on my way between my two jobs and it's convenient. There are however a lot of items on the menu that are not authentic Mexican. Lets take their "Nachos" for example. It's just tostadas with beans and melted cheddar cheese on top. Seriously? Cheddar cheese? There are places way more authentic than Erendiras.

My father who is from Mexico loves to cook. He cooks nearly every meal for himself and the family. When he did not want to cook, he took us to Tacos Erendira. For the past 30 years my family and I have eaten here. Even after the move the food is still good! As far as authenticity goes, I think it's pretty close. Depends on where you are from and what you are used to eating and how it was prepared. The chicken is marinated in a subtle seasoning in its own juices and is super yummy! The pastor is also yummy! I have not had the steak in a long time, so I will not comment on its flavor or quality. I will however, continue to eat here as I have over the past 30 years. They keep the place nice and clean and there is plenty of seating!

I liked it. The service a little slow but they are friendly and the food was very good.

I used to eat at San Jose because its a bit closer. When I tried Erendira I was sold on the quality of their food. Someone sad it was greasy, they must be thinking of somewhere else. Erendira has excellent food at a good price.

The Chile Relleno tacos are hands down the best in Chicagoland. The salsa verde (the green stuff) is superb since they don't put cumin in it and their rice and beans are marvelous. Not a traditional restaurant but run by good people who make good food.

The menu selection isn't extensive, but it's assuredly authentic Mexican food. Sure there might be some places nearby like taqueria San Jose that are a bit more authentic, but besides the rice erendira is pretty Mexican.obviously you have absolutely no idea what the difference is.
