Food is pretty good, service is horrible!
We live in the neighborhood and have been to Sura a few times. We like the food, especially the appetizers. Service, however, is just beyond words! Everyone there is so rude! Last time we called in take out and even over the phone they managed to be rude and arrogant. I will definitely need some time away from that palce before I decide to go back.

Sci-fi meets Thai
If you liked A Clockwork Orange or 2001: Space Odyssey you will love the atmosphere and decor of this restaurant. It's sort of a futuristic retro vibe in orange and white. I brought my friend here for her 30th birthday and we loved it. The waiters were fabulous, the food and drinks were great and they projected an episode of Project Runway on the wall (sound off). It was wild. It's a one of a kind place that you will not soon forget.

not vegetarian
Just to correct an earlier review - the food is not vegetarian. It all has fish in it and they won't make it any other way. If you call the restaurant they'll confirm that. If you're not really a vegetarian but just trying to avoid red meat or something that's fine, but they really should label their menu differently.

sura slips
When Sura first opened it was awesome. Cool vibe, cool place, great food, knowledgeable staff, and a unique menu. Many of those facets are still in place, but the food has become a little more ordinary. The biggest slip was in service. The first wait staff knew the menu inside and out. The managers would stop by the table to make sure everything was fine. This staff couldn't get fresh plates or silverware to the table, had no idea about the menu, and was lax on a slow night. It is a shame-I won't be in a rush to go back. When you visit a place with a unique menu you would hope the waiter can offer more about the food than "uhmmm...i knows its on the menu." Get a grip Sura you were better than that!

Go if you dare...
I tried this restaurant when it first opened. The service and food was amazing. I went back 4 weeks later. It slipped a little. I was just there 3 weeks ago. I took two expensive bottles of champagne. First of all the service sucked. Nobody really knew who was waiting on us. Both botlles of champagne were opened, letting the cork fly across the room..... on purpose? Then the waiter ( both times) Put his hand on top of the the bottle holding the foam and champagne in the bottle. WHO DOES THIS? I was a little taken back the first time, but the second time was too much. The place started off so great, and maybe it's the staff turnover, but there is just an I don't care attitude.

Amazing
I don't know what everyone else is talking about. Sura is amazing! I went there a couple weeks ago and found myself scarfing everything down. As a vegetarian, there were many delicious options to choose from. Try the egg rolls and the goyza appetizers. So good! The service was great and so was the atmosphere. I was there earlier in the evening so I didn't get to experience the live DJ however, I enjoyed it just the same. The only thing was the portions seemed a bit small compared to other Thai places, but it was still definitely worth the price. I am actually going again tonight! This was one of the only places I didn't have leftovers to bring home. I highly recommend it.

Friendly, Fun, and Funky
Contrary to what other people are saying, the waitstaff at Sura was great. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. The food was very good quality. Every plate had an amazing sauce and each entree or small plate was beautifully presented. The only down side is that the place does tend to get very loud. There is a live dj spinning great music though. The place is BYOB and there is no corkage fee so that was also great Decor wise, it is a very non-Chicago type of place. The interior is stark white with a touch of red, very futuristic, hip; kind of looks like a spaceship. Anyways, I would recommend checking it out, its fun, good food, and an overall good time.
