    Best Japanese food in Chicago

Seriously, since I've moved to Chicago from Los Angeles, where I was spoiled with the most amazing Japanese food, and my mother-in-law was Japanese, and an amazing cook, this is the only place to go for traditional home-style Japanese food! And the atmosphere is homey, and the staff is amazing! I love this place!

    Best Japanese Place

Not Sushi, but more of a noodle shop. Amazing service.

    Neighborhood Gem

What a great little place. Very unique, authentic menu. It was our friend's birthday and they even brought out some green tea ice cream with a candle on the house. Tempura was light and crispy, maki fresh and tasty....and it's BYOB!!! 7 of us ate WELL for about $100.

If you had a Japanese Grandmother

So if you had a Japanese Grandmother who devoted her time in the kitchen to creating you foods that were full of flavor and "hominess", you wouldn't need a restaurant like Sunshine cafe. For those of without, Sunshine cafe is the place to go. For those new to the japanese home cooking experience, there is no sushi here, just wonderful cooking that is sure to please.
