Sun Wah Bar-B-Q

We have eaten at Sun Wah many times, we meet friends there and have brought them new customers who have returned and enjoyed it. Last night we were there and had a bad experience. Ordered the duck beforehand which is their request and when we got there we ordered an appetizer and side dish. There were 4 of us. All repeat customers. No sooner did we order the extras our duck came out. We asked for our appetizer first so they took the duck back and brought the appetizer. Immediately the duck showed up again. It was carved and left at the table and shortly after the soup and rice were put on the table. No side dish. Once again we had to call someone over and we finally got that dish. In the past they have always served the soup, not last night. No one came to fill water or tea, we needed to flag someone for that. When they were clearing the table the check appeared. That's ok but we waited 10 minutes and no one came to collect it. We waited another 10 minutes the we (all 4) went up to the front and asked for our cards back. The girl finally took the hint and finally put thru the charges. We explained our irritation and didn't even get an apology. It was just sluffed off. You can bet there was no tip given. The food is very good and the cost is quite reasonable, but the service leaves alot to be desired. I am sure that we will return for the food and will hope that we get decent service.

Where else can 2 people eat a full meal & be out the door for $10 including tax & tip? And have the food be really good? No where that I know of. Just stick to their strong points - soup with noodles & everything else thrown in, fantastic bbq meats, and Peking Duck. The Peking Duck isn't cheap, but it is good, and they carve & serve it tableside, which is nice.

love this place! found it on a whim, and its the best Chinese I have had in Chicago. Soups awesome , Duck awesome, Ribs good, Chix w black bean yummy, and best pork fried rice I have had in 20 years.

This has to be the worst Chinese food I've ever eaten. The duck was absolutely awful and the other dishes weren't good at all either. Would never go back.

I’ve been going for years to this restaurant and even when the management team shifted from Father to Kids the way they treat people is poor, my family and I realized this almost 20 years ago and now we just go knowing that services is going to suck but the food is delicious.

If you are hungry for super fresh food , fast service,budget pricing,huge portions and inspired items on the menu, then this is the place to go. My blood sugar was at an all time low and the thought of waiting even three minutes for food was unbearable, low and behold chinese broccoli in fragrant oyster sauce appeared in less than two and a half minutes and everything shortly thereafter. What a treat.

Although known for it's lean, tender duck, anything on a standard Chinese menu can be found here. Big barn dining room, fast friendly service, fast carry out from a shorter menu, low prices. Street parking available.
