Best service ever AND Celiac friendly
Eating here was a fantastic experience. The staff was amazing. So nice and friendly. The owner was at our table several times to see how we were. Food was amazing. All that said, the BEST part of this experience was that I ate there safely as a person with celiac disease (gluten free) and a dairy and soy intolerance. It is very difficult for me to eat out safely, but Standard Indian made it happen. The owner was so knowlegable that I felt very comfortable. He even knew about cross contamination. Adjusted free starters for me too. This place is the best!

Have a gluten allergy? This place is the best!
We went there while visiting our son in Chicago. I love this place. I have a severe gluten allergy which makes eating out very difficult much of the time. The owner was in the process of making a gluten free menu. He spent a great deal of time with us, offering suggestions so that we could all share our dishes. (Something I never get to do because of my allergy) He was extremely knowledgeable about which foods and sauces contain gluten. He even had the chef prepare a special gluten free bread for me, which everyone at the table loved too. He said, "If they are eating bread, you must eat some too!" and off he went to ask the chef to prepare it. Everything was absolutely delicious. The prices were very reasonable, portions amazing, and the service was the best we have ever had anywhere! We will always remember this place. (Love the fact that you can bring in your BYOB, which they also pour for you, keeping the cost of the evening down.) Will be back every chance we get!

Thank god there's good Indian Food in Lakeview
Just moved here from the East Coast (NYC area) and tried this place for the first time. The host was so nice. He also took our order. Fantastic food. I had saag paneer with the lanb naan. I got the saag "native" spicy and it was FANTASTIC. The service provided was also excellent. The host was super and told us that if our food wasn't up to par (we ordered ahead and picked up) to just call and he would fix everything ASAP. No need to call of course- the meals were excellent. The dinner buffet looked great. We'll be back to dine in soon.

Amazing - most authentic Indian food!
I have now become a regular of the oldest Indian restaurant in Chicago. I had not just a wonderful meal but an overall amazing experience! It truly was an experience that is unparalleled by any other Indian restaurant I have been to around the globe, including London. I would recommend this to any of my family and friends in a heartbeat. If you are looking for an authentic Indian restaurant outside of India....this is the spot!!
