    Pretty Good Pizza

Although I am new to Chicago and the many restaurants that inhabit the city, I am not new to pizza, having lived in Italy for seven years. The ingredients and toppings on the pizza were exquisite, but I felt as though the place had tragically been Americanized. First of all, the pizza was way too small for $15. Second, the dough was too thick and doughy to be named an Italian thin crust. The crust, even though it was supposed to be cooked and crackley, as it is in Italy, was soft and tore very easily, making it seem like a glorified Papa John's. The restaurant, for some reason, did not have a very welcoming and homey feeling and instead made me feel rushed. The other patrons were not enjoying themselves or the atmosphere around them and were instead bunched into small groups. Overall, although the food was delicious, the pizza was way too small, the food was way overpriced, and the dough was too, well, doughy. I will probably not go here again and will try another restaurant that will hopefully not be so Americanized.

Eat and run..or suffer the consequences

I've been here for lunch a number of times and have always had a nice meal and good experience. Not having read some reviews that were less than complimentary, I was not prepared for what was to befall us on a recent visit, for dinner. We were actually asked to leave, as we had finished our meal and apparently there is no lingering allowed. We had finished 2 bottles of wine and two of the five in our party wanted another glass of wine. They basically were not interested in what we wanted. They wanted the table and that was that. Even after we spent nearly $200 on PIZZA! Italians pride themselves on their hospitality and welcoming nature....they may have learned all there is to know about making authentic pizza, but missed the lessons on people skills. Too bad, I liked this place a lot, but will never return.

Yeah, this place is amazing. I can normally eat just a piece or two of other pizzas before feeling bogged down and bloated, but I can easily eat a whole pizza made here with no problem. Every bite is very flavorful, so even though there aren't many ingredients on the pizza, it tastes so much better than other pizzas with a dozen ingredients on them. Even the crust has a distinct delicious flavor, it's not just a bland vehicle for carrying the cheese and sauce to your mouth. The proscuitto and arugula pizza tastes like you're eating a 6" sub piled high with ham, but it's really such a thin simple pie! It's also a lot healthier than a 6" sub as well. I think eating pizzas like this is what keeps the Italians skinny and happy. :) Amazing, amazing, amazing!

Best Thin Crust Pizza in Chicago

I don't like deep dish. I like thin, chewy crusted pizza. If you are of the same mind, you won't find better pizza in Chicago. Great food, excellent service, and a very nice (but not great) atmosphere/decor are the hallmarks of Spacca Napoli. If you have a complaint, the owner has been there each of the 6 times I've been there. He will make it right.

    Awesome and authentic!

We loved it here! Went on a Saturday afternoon and were seated right away. No problems with service. I don't understand how another reviewer said that their pizza was cold because, as the waitress explained after we were amazed how quickly the pizza was served, they are cooked in a 1200 degree oven in 60 seconds. Our's were piping hot! We had two different types from the specials board and found them to be a wonderful blend of flavors, and the crust is super thin and delicious. It's a bit on the pricey side, but for the quality, it's worth it and we'll be back!

    Can't wait to go back!

Our first time there, we went early to try and avoid the Friday night crowd. Obviously we were not the only ones that had that idea. We waited for about 20 minutes, but were offered beverages while we waited. The Staff was very kind and the food was even better. We started with the fresh salad, which was wonderful. Then we ordered the calamari, which had a sauce that was obviously homemade and very tasty. The pizza was so good that we ended up ordering a second one. The ingredients were so fresh and the crust was amazing. We were so impressed with everything that we had to order the tiramisu, which was divine. The menu may be small, but as long as the quality stays the same we wouldn't want them to change a thing. I told my mother who was born and raised in Italy about the restaurant and she can't wait to drive to the city to try it. We have told all our friends about the food and are planning another visit ourselves very soon. This place is amazing!

    Not Worth The Price

Recently ate at Spacca Napoli, and was unimpressed. Ordered calamari appetizer, which was lukewarm. Pizzas also served not very hot, and became cold and soggy quickly. Pizza tasted like cheese and tomato on pita bread. Very overpriced for what you get. We were there early, one of the first customers, so no excuse for food not being hot. Need more on menu than just pizza if they want to make a success of the restaurant.
