The Best
I've had the best Texas has to offer, and Smoque wins. It's all about the quality and flavor.

Worth finding
We were a group of seven adults and four children who had just spent nine hours driving for a long wk-end in Chicago. They helped us get a table for everyone to sit together and decide how much food and a good variety that was appropriate for our table. There was no talking when the food came, the children stayed in their seats and there was not a bite left over. Delicious. In fact there was talk of going back during our stay, unfortunately we were staying too far away and it was on the opposite side of the city from our departure. Will be sure to go back on our next visit.

An absolutely huge disappointment
For a recent trip to Chicago, I decided on Smoque as my bbq for my weekend. Very sorry I did. The reviews from here and elsewhere seemed pretty good. While everybody didnt call it the best in Chicago, it certainly appeared to be a top 3 or 5 pick. So here I came. With some effort of both the train and walking it took me about an hour to get here. Which would have been worth it had the food been better. Got here around 1130 am on a sat morning and ordered just as the place was starting to fill up. I got the baby backs, which were just about average with a plain sauce on the side. They were of a standard quality I can get almost anywhere. Nothing special by any means. The sides are where things really go downhill. The cole slaw was of a type i do not like at all, all vinegar. The mac and cheese had no taste at all. The baked beans could have come out of a can. I ate everything and was full but disappointed. Would reccomend, maybe if you are in the neighborhood but thats all. Will be seeking out better bbq on my next trip to town.

Worth the wait
This place is always a treat- absolutely delicious BBQ. Don't bother with the salad though. I only made that amateur mistake once.

Tasty BBQ
First time there. Had the Brisket, chopped and sliced. Brisket better off sliced. Chopped was a bit dry. Loved to Mac & Cheese, really creamy. Cole slaw was good, not the usual mayonnaise type. Small place but staff is friendly and helpful. Not the easiest place to get to if you don't have a set of wheels, but its just off the Blue Line (Irving Park & Pulaski).

You won't find better!
Have tried many BBQ places in the Chicago area and none compare to Smoque. No matter what day or time of day you go there, the food and service are 5 star. The management is always on hand to greet guests and help. Once you've been to Smoque, you won't go anywhere else. Casual, noisy atmosphere, but just what a true BBQ place should be. Our grandchildren love the place and our granddaughter proclaimed, "The best mac & Cheese I've ever had!"
