    Great atmosphere, good food

I went to Shiraz, with a group of friends, being the only persian-american amongst us, so i knew what i was looking for as far as authenticity, etc. The gormeh-sabzi is very good, and i was strongly suggest ordering all of the appetizers as well. The service was quite good, too.

    Best Persian Food in Chicago

Shiraz Restaurant is the best Persian food in quality and taste you can get in Chicago area. I traveled to Chicago for a week-long technical seminar from New York State and within my stay and not knowing the area I was told to go to Reza's Restaurant as they have three restaurant's in Chicago area. Few of us from the seminar and I be the only Persian in the group went to Reza's on Clark but I have to be honest and say their food quality was extremely poor. Since I suggested the place to my collegues at least I was happy that their DJ and Bellydancer was quite entertaining and kept them busy focusing on the bellydancer and not the food quality. Then I searched on MSN and found Shiraz Restaurant on W Devon Ave, which then I realized it was such a waste of my money spent in Reza's restaurant... Shiraz food quality was exceeding my expectation. I'm persian and I have been around in US to many Persian restaurants in California, Georgia, Toronto and many other places and right now Shiraz restaurant in Chicago is on top of my list for the best Persian Cuisine in US. I have been to. Number two on my list will be "Chelokababi Restaurant" in Sunnyvale, CA. I asked for Sultani dish at Shiraz restaurant and the quality of their Kabob Barg was out of this world. It just melted in my mouth and it was so tasty and juicy. Their Kabob Koubideh was also so good and juicy as well. Same dish in Reza's restaurant their Kabob was dry and some parts of it was burnt . As a Persian myself and being a food critic I know the quality of a good Persain food. So trust me if you need good Persian food in Chicago don't waste your money at chain restaurants of Reza's Restaurants because you will get much better quality food and also cheaper prices. Also entertainment at Shiraz Restaurant was better than Reza's. Their bellydancer was much better dancer too... One last thing that I noticed was that at Reza's little plate of feta cheese, radish and parsley is sold as an appetizer where at Shiraz restaurant they brought much more of that including samples of two traditional type of Persian style pickles for free that I didn't even ask fo it. Also their bread was warm and much more traditional Persian style bread than what they brought at Reza's restaurant. I just loved their food, that's all.

    I really like this place

I have visited Shiraz several times and I have their number programmed on my cell phone. Great food, reasonably priced, and wonderful decorum. If you are in the area, you can't go wrong.

    Good Appetizers

We checked this place out based on the nice reviews it got, and I must say, we were not impressed a whole lot. Food was good, however, the overall experience including average service and average dishes makes this place a 3/5 at best.

You must check this place out!

This is a wise choice if you are looking for delicious food and a cozy restaurant atmosphere. I was pleasantly surprised, considering the location isn't the greatest. The fish and vegetables were fresh and nicely seasoned, the dill rice was tasty and the baba ganosh was outstanding. Plus it's BYOB! I wouldn't sit outside because because inside decor is nice to look at. Plus, service was great and there was no wait.

    Great Neighborhood Find

We happened upon this gem while searching the neighborhood for new places to dine. Great atmosphere, we liked the warehouse turned Persian oasis look. The food was excellent, huge portions with the entrees. The baba ganoush was the best I have ever had. We were informed it is made fresh daily. Would like to see an outdoor garden created on the space outside the north wall. Looks perfect for this.

Good Value off the beaten track

We tried this new restaurant in our neighborhood and were impressed with the quality of the food. We were there early evening on a Friday night and although there were only a handlful of tables occupied, the decor and atmosphere of the restaurant were very pleasant and the food very tasty. We had the baba ganouch (spelling?) and fresh fish kebobs (salmon) and they were outstanding. The decor is very middle-eastern complete with persian rugs everywhere, a fountain in the middle of the room, wonderful chandelier lighting and persian music. Great find.
