    Best Seafood in Chicago

My wife and I dined at Shaw’s Crab House on Sat night, and it was fantastic. We have eaten at a lot of restaurants, and can honestly say that Shaw’s still has it going on, and is top of our list for consistent, quality seafood and shellfish. The food is always prepared right, with great service, and the dining room is comfortable, where you can relax and enjoy your meal. Here was our dinner/all worthy selections: Start with their hand-shucked dozen assortment of oysters (Chicago Magazine just voted “the best” oysters), then their famous jumbo lump crabmeat crabcake (North Shore magazine voted “best crabcake”), then their wonderful Lobster Bisque soup, then split an order of their steamed Alaskan King Crab legs with side of melted butter, then try the in-season special, three delicious soft shell crabs sautéed in lemon, garlic butter, with great veggie sides, and end it all with Key Lime Pie and Homers Peppermint Ice Cream with Hot Fudge sauce. Hot Intelligentsia coffee drinks and specialty tea capped it all off, and we were very happy overall. Shaw’s has the seafood dining experience down to a perfect science. Highly recommend!

    Eat here!

We first visited Shaw's last year and ate in the formal dining roomit felt a bit stuffy, by the service and food were superb! This year we couldn't wait to return for another delicious meal, but we felt we weren't dressed properly (having taken a break from Lollapalooza), We went anyway and discovered the fabulous Oyster Bar with the same great food and service in a relaxed, fun atmosphere. I can't recommend the crab cakes highly enoughsauteed, creamy, delicious Maryland style. The food and the place remind me of the places my dad took me to in the 60'splaces like Captain Starns and Dock's Oyster House in Atantic City. We went back two days later and enjoyed our meal just as much. They have good beer on tap toolove that Anchor Steam! Can't wait to go back to Chi-town and this place! The servers are super-friendly and helpful also.

    EXCELLENT

Everything was great. There is a causal and formal choice of setting. The sushi, gumbo, king crab, and fish were all EXCELLENT. We will eat at Shaw's everytime we go to Chicago (once or twice a year).

    A nice dinner

I came here w/ my bf for dinner on a saturday. The waiter was SO nice and friendly; he made us feel @ home. We didn't want a too expensive wine and he made a GREAT suggestion that ended up turning my bf into a white wine drinker (when he only liked red). I got a fish (that I don't have a distinct memory about, which just means it was ok) but my bf got their surf & turf (which I DO remember). His dinner was real good and the filet mignon was cooked just right and had a really good flavor. His lobster was cooked just right too. We got dessert and it was a great night. The decor of the restaurant is VERY nice with nice dark wood and gold paint. The restaurant had a nice, comfortable feel to it. We even got a great suggestion on a fantastic jazz bar that's only a few steps away. So, it was a great night of food and good music.
