Saint's Alp Teahouse
Posted by Welkin Berg on 04/29/2014
One of my favorite places in Chicago's Chinatown. Saint's Alp can be easily missed since it's not in Chinatown Square, nor is it past the giant Chinese gate on Wentworth. Delicious food and pretty great values, though. The drinks are always top notch, some of the best in Chinatown. Appetizers come quickly and are pretty good across the board- I like the glazed sweet potatoes, personally, and tea eggs are a nice mild treat. The food is good across the board from what I've tried. I recommend the "Rice Set" entrees more than all else- it comes with one main entree of your choice (my favorite is the curried fish), rice with ground pork, tofu, and usually some nicely steamed broccoli. Great value, and it's nice to get tastes of a few different things. Service is okay, but not great. Pretty much average for Chinatown. Atmosphere is nice enough- it's clean and bright, not super fancy. My biggest complaint with the decor is that the seats are pretty uncomfortable.
