Mixed
We ate there last Saturday evening. The Sushi was fresh, but the sushi rice was bland. I had the Sukiyaki, which was, at best, subpar. The beef was dry and not flavorful. The cabbage was overcooked. It was a disapointment. The service was excellent.

Freshness and consistency
When that urge for sushi arises, Sai Cafe always comes to mind for their first-rate Sashimi. Having dined there over the past several years, their obsession for freshness is clear. Soft-spoken owner Jim frequently pulls away from the kitchen to make sure things are right with his guests in the dining room. The inviting atmosphere paired with the warmth of the staff makes Sai Cafe a true gem. Additional favorites include their Volcano roll, Tora Nome, pan-seared Sea Bass, any of their Yaki Sobas, and when available, their off-menu grilled hamachi(?) collar.

Amazing Sushi
I've never actually eaten in Sai Cafe (thats why the modest marks for Atmosphere and Service) only gotten it as take out, but have never been so satisfied with my meals. Great fish, good portions...and prices aren't anything abnormal. Have tried many of the sushi places in Lakeview/Lincoln Park/Old Town and this one I highly recommend.

The best Sushi in town!
Well Sai is the best. The food is untouchable and always the very freshest possible! The service is the bomb! However the bar could use some tweeking. It was at its best when the bartender Andy worked there. Has anyone seen him? Overall I would give this Joint 4.5 stars out of 5.

The freshest sushi out there!
I have been dining at Sai for over 10 years, and their fish is the freshest around. I've been to a few other sushi places, and my husband and I agree, those places are never as good as Sai Cafe! I highly recommend Sai for amazingly fresh fish!

Great japanese dishes
Some very nice, extremely fresh dishes, true japanese dining experience. Easily the best, or one of the best japanese restaurants in chicago, and best in Lincoln Park.
