Ron of Japan
Posted by L.R on 06/06/2015
Visited this resturaunt on June 5th 2015 after passing by it while touring the city. Ratings and Reviews did not influence me to not give this place shot. Two adult drinks, two meals (salad and soup and 4 saunteed shrimp) and two deserts (4 pineapple chunks and two scoops of vanilla ice cream) and $130 later, we left heavily disappointed. The meals were chicken (literally just cut and fried) and chicken and shrimp for the second meal which was prepared the same way. The people who work there are very nice, but I do not believe you get what you pay for at this resturaunt. And they didn't even have yum yum sauce!!!!

I have now been eating Ron of Japan for 15 years and I have never had a bad experience. The food is awesome and the key egg sauce is the key. The Shogun dinner is my favorite; with the tastely salad, shrimp piece, veggies, beef fried rice makes this course absolutely divine! I have been to other restaurants and no one can do it like this place. If you haven't had the chance to experience this Ron of Japan, you must. You won't be disappointed.

The food is great but wish that the service was a little better. Last time I was there the waitress just was so unhappy and same with the chef. We never got our desert not that we could eat it we were so full but still it came with the meal and it was never brought.

Everyone always gets so excited about this place and after multiple visits I for the life of me cannot see why. The food's OK, but taste-wise I can get better from local take-out places. I really dislike smelling like fried food, which always happens when I go here. Some of the prices are nearly outrageous, but to be fair there are some decent values on this menu (for the North Shore anyway). The chefs I've had have run from funny and personable, to annoyed and sullen. Most have been ok. I really wish the actual experience came closer to the hype and reputation.

Way too oily. The chef messed up our order and didn't seem to care...we waited over 20 minutes for our table to fill up before they started making our food and made our food last. The restaurant smells like stale oil. The only good thing about the place were the nice waitresses. There are way better taipan restaurants out there. I will never return. Not worth the money.
