Republic is great across the board - food, service, and atmosphere. The sushi is very fresh. Tasty main dishes. Very attentive service without being bothersome. Very comfortable atmoshere where you can have a nice dinner conversation. Republic is one of my favorite downtown restaurants. Once you try it, you will go back many times.

Tried the Republic a couple of weeks ago for the first time -- heard about it after my favorite Thai place (Jia's) closed down and learned that the same family opened the Republic! Made a quick bee-line to try it! The welcome you feel when you first walk in is very warm, friendly and uplifting. Service was excellent. We were served by Leo and Rianna (EXCEPTIONAL SERVERS!!) the two times I've been there thus far. They were very attentive and very informative and gave incredible suggestions and really know the food and the wine! Having never tried sushi in my entire life (I know...pathetic for a 38-year-old), my friends ordered a bunch of their appetizers -- can't even remember all the names, but DELICIOUS!!!! Sushi, where have you been all my life??? My friends who eat sushi ALL THE TIME and ALL OVER THE WORLD gave the Republic a HUGE THUMBS-UP and they went especially nuts over the tuna tartare (spelling?). All the tuna we had in our sushi appetizers was mouth-watering, and we just ate it up in SECONDS. The spider roll -- PHENOMENAL!!! Scallops -- YUM!!!! My main course was the chicken Pad Thai -- THE BEST I'VE EVER HAD!!!! Even better than at Jia's!!!! New chef maybe??? I'm going back TONIGHT for my third time -- it would have been a whole heck of a lot more times, but I'm single and my friends and family are all busy with kids and husbands!!!! After tonight, maybe I'll just start going by myself!!! Eating 20 appetizers alone won't make me look too much like a pig, would it??? Naaaaaaaaaaaaaa...... ENJOY, EVERYONE, AND SPREAD THE WORD!!! The prices are great and everything is worth every cent!!! Dina

ATTENTION TO DETAIL: Before our waitress took our order she brought us damp warm hand towels to clean our hands. She was very friendly and made great recommendations EXCEPTIONAL FOOD PRESENTATION: I ordered fried rice and it was served inside a fresh pineapple. The rice itself had pieces of pineapple which gave it a unique freshness. My appetizer came atop a block and wrapped up in a giant leaf. The food tasted as good as it looked. CHEAP: Republic is extremely cheap, considering the way you get treated and the food you are getting. I highly recommend it.
