inconvenient service model
Food is fine and prices pretty reasonable, but if you have a complex order combination be prepard to stand in line three separate time (and pay 3 times) to get what you want.

Liked this place
Made a quick stop in here on a recent visit to Chicago. My first Chicago dog with the works and it was quite good. Nothing to rave about but it made a quick snack in the afternoon and was tasty.

Totally Overrated
This place is totally overrated food is average and the food quality is, quite frankly, subpar.

must stop for out of towners
Portillo's is amazing You need to go there multiple times so that you can try their hot dogs, italian beef, maxwell street polish and award winning ribs. Thier milkshakes are delicious too. If you don't live here, this is a great way to experience the way Chicagoans enjoy thier food... whatever you do, dont put ketchup on your dog!

fun fun!!!
This place is a lot of fun! I took my friends here today for late lunch and they enjoyed the busy atmosphere. I enjoyed the rustic and busy ambiance. Plus the food is so darn cheap! Fastfood at its best.

not just dogs....
Portillos not only has great dogs and italian beef sandwiches, but they have the BEST Chocolate Cake --- EVER!!!! I don't live in the Chicago area so whenever I'm there, I always stop and get a piece of their chocolate cake. It's moist, incredibly chocolate-y, and when you open the container, the aroma of chocolate envelopes you!

Weirdness
It's like a mall food court without the mall. How weird is that? But I work right by them so I eat there often.
