Wonderful Polish Food
The food served here is wonderful! My cousins from Poland said this was like that which their grandmother would make!

Babcia Kitchen
I am from Detroit and spoiled by the wonderful Polish restraunts in Hamtramck, MI. However, I happened upon Podhalanka tonight and ordered white borscht and pork cutlet, only later to read it is what was recommended. No wonder, it was FABULOUS. Delcious Polish soul food. Hot, tasty and a value. This is a big secret people! Check it out!

Great Polish
I've long loved Podhalanka. Every day they have a selection of house made soups that are wonderful. They're a comforting thought to a person wearily stepping out of the Division El Stop who is cold, hungry, and can't stand the thought of another burrito from La Pasadita. She makes an excellent White Borscht and Cabbage Soup. You can have a bowl of that with a little rye bread and butter and call it a small dinner. If you opt for a full meal I can recommend the pork cutlet. It's a fried wienerschnitzel-style cut of pork served with mashed potatoes and gravy. The pork roast is good too, and the potato pancakes and the pierogi. Podhalanka is a very casual dining experience. They have counter seating, which if you are eating alone I recommend using. The staff (which usually consists of one woman) is kind if somewhat quiet. And though Polish is overwhelmingly the language of choice you shouldn't have any problems communicating if you only speak English.
