    Rice Balls Yum

This pizza is sooo good its worth traveling from the south side for. I have been making this trek for 4yrs. This food is not Italian American . It's authentic Sicilian fare. The pizza is made a brick oven flown in from Sicily. And I tend judge Italian restaruants by their sausage pizza. If the sausage taste bad,its no go for me. The sausage pizza rocks so does the rice balls. If you like FRESH delicious food this the place for ya.

    Nice for a date

Nice looking place. Pizza was fine and not great. I would take someone there. I would not consider this to be a place to get pizza on my own which is kind of important to me. Not good enough to just get a pie to chow on. Great staff, good wines.

excellent pizza in a great neighborhood!

ok, so i'm biased since i live in lincoln square, but felt compelled to review this place since i was so surprised by other reviews!! pizza is SO subjective... many people say that their favorite pizza place is the "best pizza in chicago" even though their favorite pizza is thick crusted, mass-produced stuff for tourists. i can't decide what you like, but if you've traveled a bit, (ie to europe) and know what italian-style, thin-crust pizza should resemble, then you really and going to like pizza d.o.c. before i go on, i MUST comment on maria's comment about the price... what on EARTH are you talking about? you said that there were 6 of you and you spend $250 just on pizza? i'm sorry , but that is truly impossible... pizza doc has about 20 pizzas to choose from and, if memory serves, the average price of those pizzas are about $13... let's say that you ordered pizzas that were 20 bucks... even if each person i your party ate a whole pizza by his or herself (which i usually do), that would be $120 spend on pizza.. perhaps you're confusing food prices with its distance cousin... alcohol??? anyway people, if you're on the fence, give it a try. i do not think you will be disappointed. (for you adventurous eaters out there, get the gustoso pizza... prosciutto, asparagus, and that famous under-cooked egg on top! remember that trip to rome or paris? you know about that egg on your pizza!) enjoy!!

    Poor pricing and service

I was told by a few people that this place was great so I decided to try it out. I was very disappointed that the prices were so high. There were 6 of us and spent over $250 on pizza!! Thats rediculous. The service was poor as well. The pizza was actually good though but everything else was subpar. The pricing, the service and atmosphere need major improvement.

    Great Italian food

This was my 3rd visit to Pizza DOC and I loved it even more. The food was fantastic, service was great and the prices were even better. My boyfriend and I both ate ( 1 appetizer, 1 pizza and 1 dessert) and had drinks for only $40. The only thing I feel needs to be changed is the seating arrangements. It's not a very large restaurant but they try to fit in as many tables as possible so you are sitting right on top of the people next to you. I heard their whole conversation. But other than that, it was fantastic. Make sure to get the Suppli as an appetizer and the Bonna Cotta for dessert. You won't be sorry!

    Autentico

Most Americans have never tasted authentic Italian food until they have travelled to Europe and think that the American style of pizza; or what a famous chef from Napoli called "terramotto" (earthquake) but Pizza DOC is a close to the real deal as anywhere in the world. We are so lucky to live in such a great city that has an enormous ethnic community that offers "gastronomia" selects like this "postocino" (little spot). You have not lived until you have endulged in this food!

Get ready to be addicted to this place

Forget that the building is rather ugly -- go for the food! This is truly the best pizza in town. I'm not a fan on Chicago-style pizza anyhow, but this thin crust pizza will knock anyone's socks off. The ingredients are fresh, the service is good, and the tiramisui is my husband's new addiction. We have tried several pizzas and they have all been delicious. The calamari has been great--not rubbery at all, as has been reported--on the 3-4 times we're ordered it, and the bruschetta is very good also. I think the prices are terrific, and even though it's not the most ideal interior, it is still fairly snug and good for a casual bite. LOVE IT! Try it, you really won't be disappointed.
