    Wish I lived in town

Without exception, the wait staff was knowledgeable, pleasant and helpful. It was a wonderful experience. The food was fantastic. We will definitely be back.

    Excellent Soul Food

My mother was the best southern cook in the world to me. I know, everybody (most people) say this about their mother's cooking, but Pearl's Place is the closest I've come to enjoying the home cooked food and desserts my mama cooked growing up. The buffet is a little bit pricey, but worth it if you're hungry! The Mac/Cheese, smothered chicken and cornbread dressing is to die for and the lemon pound cake? Make you want to slap your mama :). When you're in Chicago, check out Bronzeville's gem. It's worth the trip.

    Delish!

I am original from Illinois and lived in Chicago for several years but it wasn't until last year, while visiting from out of town, that I had the pleasure of experiencing Pearl' s Place. I really appreciated a buffet in which you are served the food instead of customers serving themselves. I usually cringe at the thought of buffets. At Pearl's, the chef and assistants wore gloves and hair nets which was nice to see. There was a very nice selection of items including greens, yams, pork chops, turkey, dressing, short ribs, macaroni and cheese, etc. None of which was from a can, as one reviewer suggested. I have dined there twice, only had the buffet and was not disappointed. The decor could use an upgrade but the people were friendly and wait staff was courteous. Just as I have the last two visits to Chicago, next time I'm in town,I will make the trip to Pearl's Place.

    Good Comfort Food

This was my first time at Pearl's Place, and won't be my last. I had the buffet of collard greens, fried chicken, macaroni and cheese and yams. Everything was very tasty and I like that at the buffet, the chef serves you as opposed to self serve. I did not have dessert, but am looking forward to their peach cobbler on my next week. If you're looking for some good soul food, I highly recommend it.

    nice place, great breakfast.

food was great, loved the atmosphere, only one waitress, which accounts for the slow service, but she was working very hard and the staff was very courtious, overall I would definitely reccomend this place.

    Kid-friendly? Huh?

2 kids, wanted buffet, me wanted nothing already ate, no kids buffet if not adult buffet, what? Kid menu does not state this rule. Greens are Glory Greens from can--trouble. Spaghetti merely editable. Gumbo half bowl for $10/ not full round. Place was not crowded and I see why.
