Nice Location, poor food & service
We went to the PJ Clarke's on Illinois Ave (Streeterville). I ordered the Pot Roast Dinner. It was so tough that I literally had a hard time cutting it with my knife. And I had to spend 2 minutes chewing each little piece. I simply could not eat it it was so overcooked and hard to chew. Our waitress was the passive-agressive type. A few snooty remarks with a giggle. You know the type. I can't blame the restaraunt for an impolite waitress but it was just something that gave us another "bad taste" about this place. One good note is the gentlemen the filled the waters and cleared the plates were very efficient and were right on top of things. The atmosphere was crowded and hot, but the location was good. $78 for one sub par meal, a decent appetizer, and a pot roast that was just a little less difficult to chew than a hockey puck, and 4 glasses of wine. The price is on par with restaurants in that area, but the food and service is not.
