Worst Restaurant in Hyde Park
This place is a joke. I have no idea how they stay in business. There is never anyone there when you walk in. The food is mediocre at best and definitely not worth the price. There are much better restaurants in Hyde Park. Save yourself the time and money and skip this place.

Orly's Is More Than A Restaurant
I live in Hyde Park and I can say with certainty, this establishment is well worth every penny. The desserts are amazing, the portion size is enough for days. The attention to detail wtih prepairing a dish can be compared to a 5 star down town however, there are no towers and sparklies on your plate, only food. The atmosphere is quiet, dimmly lit but calming.

bagel experience
So I went in one day and ordered a sliced bagel with cream cheese to go. When i opened the bag i found 1 unsliced bagel, 1 spoon, and what i thought was a side of cream cheese. it turned out to be mayonnaise....

red rum
I agree with some of the other reviewers: nobody is EVER in there. If you are lucky, you might find a server or someone in the kitchen. It has that eerie feel one gets while watching The Shining. The manager is friendly but the food is one step below awful. The menu selection is way to large. Cut it down, have a theme, hire servers. As to how it is in business, I go along with the mob front!

Must be a front
I live down the block and I've tried Orly's many times. There's rarely anyone in there as far as I can tell it's just spacious and dark and kind of creepy. I went in to get take-out once and even though I was the only customer and there were three people working there, service took forever. I once ordered a veggie burger thinking I'd get the usual patty of smooshed veggies, but instead it was whole vegetables tossed onto a bun - very weird. Breakfast is ok if you just want a bagel to go, but they don't have a big selection. Every time people I know pass by, they wonder how on earth it stays open, since it always seems to be empty. MOB CONNECTIONS are our guess. Weird, gloomy place.

I alway WANT to like Orly's
But it keeps letting me down. The food is consistently mediocre and occasionally less than that. I live down the block and love to support the neighborhood, but the creepy owner makes it hard to go back. It also has this faint odor...

can't wait to go back
My party of 3 was there for Sunday Brunch. The service was great and wait staff helpful and friendly. A enjoyable comraderie and dinning experience. The food filling, seasoned and very tastee. Great prices for superior food and service. I changed my mother's day plans from RL downtown to Orly's.
