Everything about Opera was excellent!! The food was very good, comparable but not the best Chinese I have had. The service and atmosphere are unbelievable, wonderful place for a date. The "private vault" we sat in was very romantic, and the wine/drink list has something for everyone. Definitely will go back again.

I had to attend a dinner meeting at Opera. I'm really not a fan of Asian cuisine because of the lack of variety of healthy items on the menu. Everything is usually sauteed in oils and nothing steamed except for maybe the shumai but that's not very filling. The only reason why I dined here was due to the request of a client who is pleasantly plump so you know that eating healthy is far from his agenda. Maybe I could enjoy it much better if there were healthier items to choose from. I mean, Asian ingredients are very healthy but the way the dishes are prepared are not...except for Japanese.

If you dine at Opera you will be guaranteed amazing food in an amazing atmosphere and at a very reasonable price. You must try the duck appetizer. It was ten dollars but it was huge and had so many flavors. I would also recommend the beef dishes. The food is absolutely amazing. Opera has become one of my favorite restaurants in Chicago.

The best part is the food - they even have a great vegetarian/vegan menu. The drinks were a bit overpriced though and the waitstaff tried a bit too hard in my opinion to be cool. but who cares? they have a 25$ fixed menu on sundays that is well worth the effort.

Went in to opera with friends for drinks, turns out they have a great reputation for food so we tried a few things wow heavy rich flavors exciting presentations. Go for the filet with chinese broccoli great!, really a different take on chinese, our server said the chef calls his food "new chinese", with a touch of french, very inspired. I'll be back!
