Best Sauce in our Windy City

I'm 42 year old born and raised Chicagoan and this is my honest opinion. The Marinera sauce is the best I have ever had. I travel and am a restaurant enthusiast as in I eat at quality restaurants 5-6 times a week. I am a professional so I can afford it and work way to many hours so it's my treat to myself to enjoy great food. I always enjoy the food here from fish dishes to home made rolls that' you just don't want to stop eating. My wife and I don't eat dairy and here they make a dairy free Marinera thats absolutely the best, no acid indigestion after this sauce it's just fresh flavorful and satisfying the rolls are also dairy free. Try this place if you get a chance and see if I was not right. Another bonus is the portions every meal can easily satisfy two hungry adults or as I often have eat what you can and you'll have a great lunch the next day making it a great value. I am writing this just after my lovely wife and I enjoyed spaghetti in Marinera with no cheese with delicious rolls at home. What a great simple but delicious meal. I have had most of the plates and they are really good. They make everything fresh so you they can prepare things the way you request or leave some ingredients out if you have any allergies. Cheers my Chicagoans and visiting Friends.

    Yesterday's Apples

This must have been a great place - once! I don't know if it's the neighborhood or the economy, but out of veal at 6PM on a Saturday night? The baked clams are to die for. The recipe is among the best I have ever tasted, but the clams were rubbery. They serve rolls instead of Italian bread. There's an Italian bakery next door! Go buy bread. The Marinara sauce was absolutely reconstituted and not fresh. Bottom line - they're cutting corners to save money in all the wrong places - the food. Bring back the past because I can tell it was glorious.

    Evaluation

Its a small italian restaurant, great little place. They have HUGE portions of food. I went with my family and the atmosphere was ok. The resztaurant owner greeted every table but ours. I was also a little disspointed that I could not get assitace due to the fact the our waitor didn't know the menue or wine list. They do have a great viriety of wines.

    Quality Eats

I've eaten at most of the Italian spots in the neighborhood and I'm kicking myself for not finding this one sooner. But I have made up for lost time by ordering from them twice a week since. The chicken picatta and margarita pizza are the most delicious I've found as of yet. Also, the delivery can be surprisingly fast and there is plenty of warm, delicious bread. Go now, you found the place to eat tonight.

    GREAT for the buck

Excellent little Italian restaurant on Grand. I have only eaten there once, but get delivery almost weekly. Especially when Im low on the cash and need leftovers, their portions are very large. I like the variation on the menu, and what they do, they do very well. The signature Angel Hair pasta is always a good judge. Good pizzas too. Another nice thing, when delivered, it is always hot, always well packaged (to a point worth mentioning) and generous with the bread and what-nots.
