Don't like the omelette
Some things here are better than others. I had the worst omelette here & on many occasions unfortunately. I'm a breakfast nut, eat all over town & I can truthfully say theirs are the worst omelette in Chicago. I do like the ambience & service. And it's way over priced for the food quality.

poor customer service
I went for breakfast and was seated in the middle of other tables, and was quite crowded,. The food and our waiter were good. The problem was the staff continued to run past our table, hitting our table and pounding the floor consistently. At one point a certain spot that the staff would step would actually move the carpet and make my seat jerk forward. Halfway through the meal, I was annoyed and went to find a manager, when I told him of the situation, he told me that's the way it is. He then stated it's like being in a trailor park, to which I replied back I wouldn't know what that's like. When we were walking out, he staets next time he'll give me a a table on the side. My husband went back the next day with a business associate and they were seated in between others, when his associate asked the hostess if they could sit at another table and pointed to the one table, the hostess replied, you can't have that table, that's for four!!! They need a lesson in customer service. They are just rude, maybe thinking we're tourists and don't care. I'm not throwing $50 down for breakfast to be treated in such a way! There are plenty of other restaraunts that I can take my money to.

good breakfast!
We had breakfast on a quiet Wednesday morning. The Eggs Florentine were delicious, as was the Special Omelet. The toast and raspberry jam was fresh and good...nice calm atmosphere and great view of Chicago. The coffee's okay too.

Refreshing
The food was light and delicate with fulfilling tastes that aroused my taste buds. The new decor is very modern with a hint of rich-country home style, but its original decoration of charming garden theme is much missed. The Oak Tree is a great restaurant for a light and satisfying meal.

Slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
Guy at the entrance very quick to welcome you in and get you seated. Don't be fooled. That's the fastest part of the whole experience. Waited best part of fifteen minutes before WE ASKED the waiter if he'd be so kind as to take our order. Bread was provided to all other tables, ours never showed. Waited another 35 minutes for the food to arrive. Thrown on the table by surly looking guy, not the waiter. Acorn Burger sounded great but just a plain old Angus burger on a stale slice of pumpernickel with a couple of lettuce leaves. Not even cooked that well. Overall bland and slow. Go elsewhere. (actually, being shown to the table wasn't the fastest part at all - leaving was a whole lot quicker!)

Great food
This is a great place with great food. The service is slow but the food makes up for it.
