    real salsas, awesome mexican food

been coming here regularly since i moved to south loop. the entrees are the main event, with the fajitas camaron al mojo, carne asada, fajitas nortenas, and pollo ranchero among my favorites. very authentic sauces and good sized protein. along with the fresh chips, they have at least 4 different salsas made daily, although you have to ask for the green and extra spicy red ones. they always bring out a little "starter" as well for free, sometimes a sopes or tamales or soup.

    Asado de puerco

If you like pork you have to try this dish the asado de puerco is one of the best I've had. My family is from Nuevo Leon so we know our asado. When I can't get my mom to make me some I order it from NL. It's very addictive when you eat up the sauce with their chips...oh man delicious!!

    Amazing Mexican Food

This restaurant is by far my favorite mexican restaurant in Chicago. The food is amazing, though payment must be in cash, and the atmosphere is great as well. This place is always packed for a reason. The food [select]ion is vast and the quality and quantity of the food is amazing. This is a great place to go if you have a large family because splitting the dishes is the best way to get the most out of your meal. I always leave with a plate full of leftovers.

    eh...

i agree with what Mike L said...the guacamole tasted very strange with a very wierd texture. The mole enchiladas were good, but the food was over all average. Not as good as its reputation

    Great authentic food

This is by far my favorite Mexican restaurant. Great good, great prices, and it's a BYOB. Not to mention they have a juke box with old and new songs in spanish. I really like the Caldo de Res, the Carne Asada, the Steak Tacos and their tortillas (which apparently are made next door). The only one thing I would mention is that the tacos don't automatically come with sour cream and cheese, but you can always ask for it on the side.

    Good Food in Pilsen

excellent food. true ethnic receipe. cultural atmosphere. a big downside is no credit cards. so bring cash. some of the staff could be a little friendlier. prices would not be so bad if customer service was better and credit cards were accepted.

Nuevo Leon is good and keeps people wanting to go for more. Its really nice inside and the service is great. I love going there and the food is excellent.
