First you should know that this is primarily a take out place, not a lot of room for in house dining. But that is O.K. b/c this is the best food I've had since moving to Chicago. Miss Lee catered our Christmas dinner for five and it was wonderful. Her portions were so generous we had two more dinners with the leftovers. The price was very reasonable and saved me the stress of cooking on Christmas day. I was able to enjoy the entire day and have a fabulous dinner to serve for my friends and family. This will be our tradition for every Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Brings to mind herbal tea but it's anything but. Delicious, fall off the bone baked bird with a million of Miss Lee's special herbs. Great eating.

Having been born and raised in Chi Town I've always considered myself an afficicionado of local soul food eateries, having for fifty plus years frequented former popular joints like Gladys', Soul Queen, H&H, Chili Mac's, and current spots like Hard Times, Army & Lou's, Izola's, MacArthurs, and Edna's, to name a few. But I just recently discovered a hidden gem, in the hood on the southside, that apparently has been operating for 11 years that unequivocally has some of the best food for the soul of any restaurant that I've experienced. Miss Lee was being humble when she named her establishment cause the food is way better than good. Whether you consider yourself experienced in kitchen culinary art or not you will definitely appreciate the product being offered out of this carryout only storefront. I am truly amazed and impressed at the quality of food and preparation that is evident from the first to the last bite of every order that I've placed. From the ever popular grilled herbal chicken w/ rice to the finger licking ox tails, neckbones, tender succulent short ribs, baked and smothered chicken, duck and rib tips with side dishes that I hadn't tasted in years I have never been disappointed and you won't be either. This is the first review that I've ever submitted on any product, let alone food. And based on the length of my comments here one can safely assume that I got a little carried away. But the few minutes it took to show my appeciation for the food and service that Ms Lee consistently provides on a daily basis was well worth it. If you're looking for good eatin this is the joint! If you need a good cry, try the peach cobbler or bread pudding. They will bring tears of joy!
