Best Chinese Food - Takeout or Restauran

We've lived in Chicago for 14 years and believe MayFlower has the best Chinese food in our area. They use only the best quality foods, which are always very fresh and the flavors of each dish are consistent from one order to the next. The Chinese Barbeque Pork is excellent; all chicken dishes are prepared with white meat chicken; the portions are plentiful and the prices are great. My husband and I share one large portion and there's always some left over. The staff is serious, but friendly. Since we've gone there for years, they know us and we are always greeted with a smile. We love Mayflower.

    Great Food, Great Value

I have lived in So. Cal., Seattle and now in the Chicago area. I currently live in the North 'burbs and work just a few blocks north of the May Flower. Every other Friday I treat myself to some great food. The May Flower has the best Kung Pao Chicken I have ever tried! No one has come close to making it the way they do and it is the best! Of course, I can only vouch for a few items as I always get the same thing. I get the Lunch Special of Kung Pao Chicken (extra spicy) and add a Hot and Sour Soup and an order of Chicken Wings. The Lunch special for $4.25 is a great deal. It comes with an Egg Roll and Chicken Fried Rice. I can never eat the whole thing and it gives me an extra meal on the weekend. The soup is just right and the chicken wings are huge (not those little things you get elsewhere). Everything is served hot, not warm, but hot. When I pick it up and get back to work, I still have to start out slow as it remains hot. As has been mentioned, it is not a fancy sit-in place. For me, as I always get take-out the ambience means little and compared to other places the food and value are exceptional. If you haven't tried this little gem, do yourself a favor and go enjoy the May Flower.

    The Chinese Soup Nazis!

Yea, if you've ever seen the Seinfeld episode with the soup Nazi, it pretty much sums this place up, lol. The people working there are very rude, and I think they know they can get away with it because they have the best General Tso Chicken in town! The other dishes I've tried have been pretty good too, with their fried rice being a little below par. If you want friendly people to order from, this is not your place, but if you don't mind a little rudeness for some good food, go for it!

    Hidden Items Make Best Choices

This is one of the many Chinese takeout places that deliver to my home. This place has become my favorite for one item. No one else in my neighborhood offers this item. It is not even listed on this online menu, but it is on the back of their own paper menu. I love Salted Shimp with (Hot) Pepper. I first had it at Hong Kong Buffet (another great Chinese restaurant choice in the area, but they don't deliver, you can takeout, though) and found my taste for whole shrimp. You can get this item with or without shell (I always get it with the shell, I enjoy the crunchy taste). The BBQ pork here is also very good. I found I like May Flower's pork better than a restaurant in Chinatown. I do agree that the egg rolls and fried rice taste weird. The crab rangoon is also good.

    We love Mayflower

There are a lot of chinese take-out restaurants in our area and we think Mayflower is consistently the best. We have tried most of them and just feel we get alot for our money and it tastes great. We buy off the dinner special menu and the amount of food we get is awesome. We all get three meals out of one order. The egg rolls could be better-they are just ok. Love the fried rice.

    ok Chinese food

I think this place is just ok. The value is great for the lunch special, but I did not like the egg roll or the chicken fried rice. My main dish, sweet and sour chicken, was good though. This place is ok, but I think there are better carry out places in the area.
