Skip the fries, Hot Dog is Fair
You can takeout or sit on a stool and eat off a counter. The best thing about their dogs are big tomato slices. The negative=bun is not steamed or with poppy seeds, dogs warm, not hot, relish sparse and not neon green. Bland shoestring fries come in a small brown bag to absorb grease. Don't know how they can be that greasy and still so bland. Might have done better at America's Dog across the street from Max (maybe next on my list).

Always my first meal in Chicago
I had not had a REAL Italian Beef in many years (I'm from Illinois, live in Nashville, TN now) and as soon as we had checked into the Palmer House in downtown Chicago, I asked the concierge where to find the closest and BEST Italian Beef. He gave us directions to Max's just around the corner on Wabash and I started each day there with their great Italian Beef and my husband had the Hot dog and the combo. There's no place else outside of Chicago you can get that taste. The prices are unbelievably inexpensive. Try it...you'll love it. I took mine to Millenium Park for a picnic and snack.

My Favorite Part Of Chicago
This is the best place to get Chicago hot dogs. They use only the best Vienna Beef hot dogs, and the toppings are really tastey. They serve everything from spagetti and meatballs to gyros to Chicago hot dogs. The hot dogs are their best, they deserve ten stars out of five. Do yourself a favor, the next time you are in Chicago, make a trip to Max's, and have the best Chicago dog of your life.
