In a neighborhood packed with sub-par restaurants, this place is a welcome respite. Consistently fresh and tasty - just excellent, without the pretense. Like a neighborhood joint should be.

Matsuya is amazing food, a great deal, and traditional atmosphere. But mostly it is one thing that is rare to find in a sushi restaurant, in the middle of America, unpretentious. I have enjoyed dining here alone or with friends for several years now and have always felt welcome. I don't wish to speak ill of other sushi places. Most are incredibly beautiful with many having great food. Still none are Matsuya. As a good friend from Kyoto told me Matsuya is like home. We don't get Mom & Pop sushi restaurants here and I'm not even sure Matsuya is one but it feels like it and when I leave I'm always very happy. Thank You.

My husband and I go there all the time. I go sometimes with my girlfriends and the food is always great. It's very authentic and comforting food and not pretentious. I love that the atmosphere is not snobby. You can just go there eat and relax. Not loud unlike other places. Also, they give you complementary misso soup which is a plus. This is I place I see Japanese please people too go there to enjoy the food. Love the place and highly recommended.

Sushi was GREAT. Very plentiful for the price. Would recommend to anyone, hands down.
