Good Sushi- quiet atmosphere
This place is near my apartment, so I had to check it out. The place was empty, which is fine, and we were served immediately. The sushi was fresh and yummy- We ordered specialty rolls. I enjoyed the experience and will be back again. I think if it is empty, they treat you a bit better than when crowded, as in all restaurants.

Value is not all that great
We are always looking for a new great sushi spot, so when I came across the 4 great reviews of this place and found it was was so close to home, we thought we had it made. Man were we wrong! The miso was tasteless, the tempura was soggy and worst of all the sushi was slimey! Although the waitstaff was attentive, they completley forgot part of our order, which ended up being a blessing in disguise. As for atmosphere, there is none. There is music piped into the dining area, but it is often covered by the music coming from the kitchen. The value is not all that great as they don't have the selection you would find at most good sushi spots in the city.

My neighborhood spot
My only fear of letting people know about Matsu Shita is that when I go there after people find out about the place, it will be so hopping, I'll have a hard time getting a table. This place is fantastic!!! The sushi is fresh, the chef Steve is a great guy (and talented), the service is always excellent, it is close to where I live, and the cost is the most reasonable I've seen for quality sushi. If you don't go there when you are in the neighborhood and would like sushi, you're a fool. There is no place even close to beating Matsu Shita.

a chicago gem
Honestly one of the most amazing places I have found in Chicago. The food is amazing, and so are the people and the atmosphere.

Matsu Shita
Matsu Shita is a great little place if you're up in north Lincoln Square or Albany Park. It's very good sushi, well prepared, the little place is always very quiet, there's hardly no one in there, and I can't understand why because their spicy sushi set for lunch is amazing, one spicy tuna, one spicy salmon, and a yum-yum roll plus soup and salad for $10... come on, you can't get a better bargain anywhere in the city. Try is out, it's on North Lincoln, and it's great for a quiet spot where they will treat you great.
