Most creative chef NEVER disappoints
I moved to Chicago in July, am true foodie and have tried all the "BEST OF" eateries. Markethouse and Chef Scott top them all. Yes it is tucked away in a hotel, but this place is NOT to be missed. The creative menu changes with the season. Many of the ingredients and herbs are grown rooftop. The lamb is my favorite and FAR excels every other restaurant in town. Mac and cheese is not to be missed. Mushroom casserole is decadent. Do start with the scallops...... I am not a sweet eater, but my friend (also a foodie ) said the bread pudding was the best she has ever tasted. Excellent wine selection ( Thursdays bottles are 1/2 off !! ) with knowledgable servers to guide you. The manager is new this last year and was recruited from a fine restaurant in Michigan. He could not be more helpful and welcoming. If you have not experienced Markethouse on Fairbanks and Ohio, you are shorting yourself of a wonderful find. Did I mention the great lunch special..... visit for yourself and I will not need to say more.

Wonderful secret
Restaurant was great! Food and service were better than most places I have been to this summer. Really nice food presentation and very attentive, pleasant service. Wine list was impressive and reasonably priced. Great addition to the neighborhood. Will definitely go back!!

Needs better management
I live next door and have eagerly awaitng the arrival. My only problem is, both times that I dined at Market House there is a male manager with glasses that is very sooty. Everytime I ask him about a wine he just points to a wine on the menu and does not pronouce the wine correctly. It makes me sad because the food and service is great. This guy is just overwhelmed. Please get a manager that knows food and wine.
