Mariscos El Veneno

Let's keep it simple. Any time you encounter a place this small, packed with people, and more people waiting to get in is a great sign in my book. That tells me there is something worth waiting for. The waitstaff was attentive yet relaxed and easygoing. The starter of Ceviche Tostadas sets you up for what is to come. We enjoyed 3 dishes. Yes, we ate like we'd never eat again, but once you're there you'll know why. We kicked the afternoon off with the Cucaracha Shrimp. Don't let the name fool you. It may sound like a turn-off, but I assure you this dish is nothing short of fantastic. A giant plate of shell-on shrimp in a succulent red sauce will leave you daised and wanting more. It's a hands-on dish, but not to worry as there are plenty of paper towels. The Langostinos that followed were phenomenal, and the Chapuzon was cha-rrific! You will not regret this place. amazing food fun atmosphere! a gem right down the street

Me and my family visited El Veneno on a Sat. night. The place was fairly packed,but we were seated immediately. They start your off with tostadas de ceviche..on the the house! they also serve you unlimited plain tostadas,crackers & their house made habenero salsa thats hotter than fire! I gotta say that the tostada de ceviche was real good. The atmosphere has an overall Mexican playa feel,so it doesnt feel like Chicago anymore. Most of my family ordered the Huachinango(red snapper) and it was the bomb! Fried to perfection,served with rice,fries,a salad & garlic bread...the portion was HUGE! What I likeed about the menu was that it wasnt too big. The chefs(yes chefs) will prepare your fish,shrimp all all other kinds of seafood the way you like it. They have a variety of ways that they prepare it. their seafood cocktail is also very good and BIG PORTION also. I highly recommend El Veneno. If your a seafood lover,this place is for you. By the way, there are 4 different locations and not all serve liquor,but it is BYOB which was great. They provide you with a bucket of ice to keep your beer cold!

For family get together & friends to enjoy a fabulous dinner night, i'am highly recommending " EL VENENO" an AWESOME expierence, go and taste for yourself, Customer Service, my respect for the whole staff.
