This place is soooooo overrated. The food is uninspiring, except the beet bruschetta. I keep going there, because it is close to home and believing I just need to order something new to be impressed, only to be disappointed again. I could handle the mediocrity of the food if it weren't so overpriced.

I went with 3 other people and we all were tasting each other's food. I can honestly say that every bite I had that night was delicious. Our service was great. Friendly, engaging, and attentive. It was crowded but we got there early and didn't have to wait for a table. I can't wait to go back.

I've been going to Lula since I moved to the neighborhood about 4 years ago. The menu is inventive and the food is always well prepared. It has everything for everyone -- good cheap eats for those on a budget and more upscale meals for those looking for something more sophisicated. The knock on Lula has been (by some reviewers) that the service is not up to the food. I disagree - the service is casual and relaxed while being not cold or indifferent. It does get crowded, esp. on weekend brunches, but then what good place doesn't? I think the vibe of the place is great and go there as often as I can.You should, too!

The food is really great...inventive, delicious, nice presentation. However, the staff is terse and unresponsive, almost icey. I wish I could say that it was an exception rather than a rule, but I've been many times. The atmosphere is crowded, casual funky and the crowd is diverse. The tables are really packed in there, which leads to my score for value. For the price, it's too crowded and frantic, and the service is much too poor. Which is a shame, because the food is extremely good and the place has a lot of potential.
