    Great home-cooked style food

I was holidaying in Chicago last week from London UK and had the pleasure of dining at Lucia's Restaurant. The food was truly magnificent and superbly prepared - very flavoursome and tasty. I recommend this Italian restaurant very highly for great meals and a fun night out.

    Dependable Goodness

I can always count on a great sandwich or pasta to go.The sit down evening restaurant is different. I've have had some meals that were good and some that were great. I'd say the sandwich deli part is more consistent but the restaurant is still worth trying though. You can have some really good dishes if the kitchen is on top of it.You know how it goes.

    Lucia's is Terrific

5 of us ate at Lucia's for the first time last night. Everyone enjoyed every dish of their meals very much. From the grilled calamari appetizer to the linguine with white clam sauce to the best cannoli (when we got ours the shells were still warm!) I have had in years the dishes were deceptively simple. Straight-forward preparations let the quality and freshness of the ingredients and the care and skill in their production speak for themselves. Oh yeah and the bread is terrific too. The atmosphere is pleasantly low key. The service, in our case we learned from Lucia's daughter, was attentive, helpful, and friendly. I have never before been moved to write a review like this, but am happy to for Lucia's. For their sake I hope they are "discovered" more and more (though they seemed to have no trouble filling the dining room while we were there). For our sake we'd hope they remain the "hidden gem" that another reviewer called them. We'll be back and can only hope that Lucia would open a location nearer us in Lakeview. We'd be there weekly.

    The Best In The City

Without a doubt, Lucia is a hidden gem in a city of overrated restaurants. I have sampled close to 3/4's of the menu and have yet to be disappointed. Chicago loves there italian beef and great debates arise as to who has the best. My vote is for Lucia! Not an ounce of fat on this beef. Although it may sound like a simple meal, the chicken ceasar salad is the absolute best around. I am about 4 miles in distance from the restaurant and have no problem driving their at anytime for a quick bite or a great sit down meal with my wife. I implore everyone to give it a shot. You will not regret it.

    My fave italian in Chicago

I am a big fan of Italian food, and have tried many of the restaurants in Chicago. Though many other Italian restaurants have good traditional Italian (for me, that is mainly a measure of the taste of their marinara sauce), Lucia's is the best as far as non-traditional Italian goes. I love the artichoke ravioli and pumpkin ravioli. Very delicious, and the fact that it's BYOB is just the icing on the cake! Very cozy, very nice owners and wait staff. And a cute little back deck to boot!

    Intimate Italian

The food here is authentic italian and delicious; the portions are generous, but not gigantic (a good thing!); the waitstaff attentive and the owners friendly. It is a cozy dining room, with some interesting artwork on the walls - a good casual place for a nice dinner with friends!

    Awesome

Great little italian place! The food is awesome. Try the pumpkin squash ravioli, or the rack of lamb when it's available. The staff is always very nice. And their deli for lunch is very good and reasonably priced.
