Worth the travel
I live 4-5 miles away and let me tell you it's worth the travel time. Whenever I work in this area I always stop by or even when I'm at home and get a itch for them. My favorite of all would be spinach, champiƱon, & BBQ chicken. They are amazing and cheap. I've had really over fried empanadas but these (even though they too are fried) always come out with a delicious crust that's superb. Stop in or call in or grub hub it w/e just get one. TIP If you like mild hot sauce get regular homemade if you like spicy mix it with the habanero hot sauce on the counters.

Great food, great price!
After discovering this place, I went twice in one week. The empanadas were definitely lighter and more flavorful than any I've ever had. I loved the beef and rice. The chicken was a little dry, but was great with the homemade hot sauce. The chocolate banana was good too, but hard to eat because it was so hot. Staff was very friendly and the place is super clean. Too bad there isn't more seating. Also, the drink selection could use some work.

Great empanadas
Great food, great prices. Place is tiny, though I did eat my piping hot empanadas quickly at a window stool. Employee was very friendly, especially for a takeout place. Truly great empanadas, two were enough to more than fill me up. Try the beef with raisins and olives, add a little hot sauce to contrast the sweeter filling!

don't miss these
Make it a point to get to Lito's. Lito's is a very small, sparkling clean place which has a few window seats for dining in. Much of their business seems to be take out. The empanadas which are fabulous, travel well and stay warm. Try my favorites: beef, olives, rainsins, rice or the beef and rice. My ultimate favorite is the choco-banana. The empanadas are inexpensive -a wonderful deal for the money. The owner and his wife are very friendly. These would be great to take to a party. If you are in the neighborhood, stop by. If you are not in the neighborhood, make it a point to get there. I am convinced you will not be disappointed.

First Impression - Excellent
I went to Lito's for the first time today. It's a clean and bright store front on Clark St. The staff is very friendly and efficient. For a little over 2 dollars each you get a variety, although not extensive list, of empanadas to chose from. Today I had the Beef empanada and the Vegetarian empanada. Both fillings were well worth the wait while the empanadas were cooked to order. The dough comes out crispy and chewy with a slight sweetness that compliments the filling. It's wonderful to eat right away if you can but it does stay crispy as I found out after taking mine home 30 minutes later. The dough is so good I could eat that all by itself without a filling. Lito's is a winner. I'll be back for more.
