    Food and Service

Well i lived in the area, if your looking for a great meal at a very affordable price this is the place to go, its very Puerto Rican Family oriented feels like your at home but thats just how it is in P.R., they have the best and they cater as well I recommend the food very highly.

Good food , need better service.

I really like their food, everything from the alcapurrias to the bistec. They could use some improvement on their service. I would like to come in to the restaurant (at least once) and get my favorite sandwich (the jibarrito) done, without having to chase the staff around to get it done! Seems like they don't like to take the time to make these sandwiches.

Feels like being in Old San Juan

Our last vacation was spent in OSJ and when we returned, I jumped on the internet to find an authentic PR restaurant. We visited La Palma on 6/3/06 and became instant loyal customers!! The food was out of this world!! I had lechon with rice/beans and my husband had the Jibarito. The lechon was juicy/tasty and the Jibarito melted in your mouth. The people behind the counters were super friendly and made you feel like you had been personally invited to their party. They came right over to our table to ask if we needed anything else and checked in constantly. We had an appetizer, softdrinks and dessert - the whopping bill came to $18.00!! Where else in Chicago can you get incredible food and service for that price. We'll be back to La Palma on 6/10/06 and we're bringing friends this time. Congratulations to this restaurant and their employees for providing a great experience!!

    Amazing

This restaurant had been recomended to me, I just never bothered. Being Latina I figured I could cook rice and beans just like the next Puerto Rican. Was I wrong. Their beans are amazing. They actually put patitas de cerdo in them. I was eating the beans without the rice. We ordered white rice with beans and pork chops in sauce, the portions are huge. There was enough rice and beans to feed three people. The restaurant doesn't look like much. It's pretty small and we've done take out so I'm not sure about the waitstaff, but the lady behind the counter is very friendly. I've found my spot for Puerto Rican food when I don't want to cook.
