After reading the reviews I decided to try the place. I'm always on the look out for good italian. I ordered eggplant parm and the wife ordered the lasagna. The sauce is essential to any italian dish. This place takes zero pride in there food if they are going to open a can of tomatos, place the contents in a pot and heat it up. The sauce was not good. It had a metalic taste and contained no fresh spices or fresh tomato or garlic or cheese. We couldn't even finish our dinner because it was impossible to try to get past this poor excuse for tradditional italian food. oh, the salad was good.

I order here 2-3 times a month and am rarely disappointed. The last time I ordered it did take almost 2 hours for my delivery, but out of the 20 times I have ordered from here, that has never happened. The food is excellent and flavorful.

I have been eating @ La Gondola for almost 3 years, not only is the service great, but all entrees come with Soup or Salad and hearty italian bread, not sure what previous reviewer was talking about, anyhoot, expect delivery and pick-up to be slow during peak times, they are very popular, and all dishes are made from scratch, Pizza is also very good Chicago style "cracker crust" the crust does have little flavor but the marriage between the sauce and mozzarella is delish! always ask for extra thin crust, that's the way to eat chicago style pizza, all in all La Gondola is one of those little "authentic" eateries hidden in a strip mall, more than once i have seen celebrity's and news personalities, don't be fooled by location, it's casual but still a white table cloth establishment, not unusual to see someone wearing Levis next someone wearing Armani, very genuine independant restaurant, you won't be dissappointed.

La Gondola serves great homestyle Italian food. Pizzas are so-so, typical Chicago-style thin cracker crust with not much texture or flavor, but pastas and entrees are very good. Rigatoni vodka and chicken parm are faves. One irritating thing: if getting take-out or delivery, salad and bread are not included even though the menu and website say otherwise.

Hard to believe a place like this still exsists, "fantastic" Pizza, Veal dishes, Seafood, Chicken and service, had em all and none were bad, ample off street parking in Lakeview was nice and a full liquor license as well, don't be misslead by the mall setting, once inside you'll think there was a canal rather than a Office Depot outside...

This is a wonderful place with the most amazing pizza I have ever had!

Always a good time, great service pizza and food, delivery can be slow on weekends as so many others but food quality outweighs the occasional semi-cold pizza.
