Nice relaxed atmosphere to meet friends have a drink and eat good chips

The highlight of this meal was that we had a groupon and did not pay full price. My fiance and I went yesterday and it being Valentine's Day we called ahead last week to see if we needed reservations. The woman who answered the phone told us no we did not but when we got there at 6:30 last night, yes you did. "Luckily" for us we only had to wait about 5-10 minutes for a table. We ordered our margaritas and guacamole and they brought us the standard chips and salsa. While the margarita's were quite big for the price I'm still trying to find the tequila in mine. The chips, salsa and guac, I will say, were pretty good. We ordered our entree's and about 15 minutes later they brought my full fajita dinner out and then the waitress giggles and says I'm sorry I forgot to push the button on yours (to my fiance) it will be right out....what we learned about 15-20 minutes later was she didnt put his order in at all. So here we sit with my food in front of me and nothing for him. I find it rude to eat when my date has nothing so I didn't touch my food. Naturally when they brought his and we began to eat, mine was already cold. The saving grace in that was it had zero taste so it really wouldn't have mattered if it was warm or not. To make up for the error the waitress offers us a complimentary dessert. Which I thought was nice, however, it took another 20 minutes to get a scoop of vanilla ice cream and hard, tasteless churros (a dessert she recommended to us). We got no refills or offers for refills for our cocktails and we had to practically tackle the bus boy for more water. This restaurant would have gotten zero stars if not for the groupon and the waitresses attempt to make up for the poor service. Two and half hours were wasted in this restaurant and needless to say we will not be going back.

The food is mediocre at best. Seriously. I have tried different dishes 3 times and was disappointed on all 3 occasions.

For Mexican food, it is above average. Great drinks, very comfortable feel to the place and the servers are not in your face every 5 minutes like other restaurants. TV's are there as well if you are in the mood to catch the game. They have a nice sidewalk area for outdoor seating as well.

Don't go to La Cantina Grill if you are looking for a quiet dinner with good service and tasty food. After a less than satisfactory first meal at the restaurant, I gave it another shot last night and confirmed that I will never go there again. The acoustics are terrible and we could hear almost every other diner's conversation in our area. The waitress seemed completely uninterested in serving us and even turned away from me before I had finished giving her my order. To top it off, the food was subpar and my rice came with an extra-long hair. When I showed it to the waitress (and manager for that matter), their first reaction was "What color is it?" Not - I'm very sorry or Can I bring you something else. Since the hair was blonde, they proceeded to tell me that there were no blondes working in the kitchen and seemed to imply that I was at fault. No one at our table was even remotely blonde. Instead of being gracious and accomodating, the staff and manager were unfriendly and accusatory. I do NOT recommend this restaurant - their food and customer service are terrible.

Everything was bland and boring. The food tasted like the cheap frozen food you get at the grocery store. I've had mediocre food before and chucked it up as not such a big deal, but this food was so subpar that I almost wanted to demand my money back!

I ate at La Cantina Grill on 11/17/07. I ordered the Camarones Al Mojo De Ajo, one of my favorite Mexican shrimp dishes. The dish was so bland, it tasted like no seasoning was used in the preparation. Even the shrimp tasted like frozen, pre-cooked shrimp. The flan dessert was good, though, and the Margarita was one of the best I've had in ages. I would go back for drinks, but not for the food.
