It's always a treat to go to Kumas
Not sure what's going on with all the people claiming bad service. I've been to Kuma's at least a dozen times, and never been treated rudely. Sure, it's a tiny-ass kitchen so certain times there is a ridiculous wait time, but it's always been worth it to me. There is nothing like a burger from Kumas, I am trying to cross all of them off the list. Black Sabbath, Kuma Burger, and Lair of the Minotaur are my faves.

It's Just A Burger !!!
We went to this place in late July, based on some review I recall seeing on "Check Please". Honestly, I think the place is over-rated. Too much hype over ground beef and beer. I doubt anyone would expect a burger joint to be "fine dining", so I didn't go expecting the Pump Room. It seems as if the place believes it has reinvented the wheel, but I didn't think my burger was extraordinary. I can't understand why anyone would get excited over free RC refills. That's pretty standard practice in most restaurants around here. The wait for a table was about a half hour, and another 35 minutes for food, which seemed odd because they didn't seem busy. I really believe you can have a better burger experience at R.J. Grunts or Wildfire. We have no intention of going back to Kumas. The place is simply not worth the time or money.

You are forwarned
Had my 1st trip to Kuma's and the burgers were great (Mastadon and Motorhead(?)). We went on a Sunday afternoon, about 3:30. Before we were seated hostess informed us the wait would be 1/2 hour for an inside table. I asked if it would be quicker for the patio and it was, 20 min wait. This is not fine dining folks. We were seated at a picnic table for crying out loud. So if you can not enjoy a meal w/out 20 different wine choices, go elsewhere. My husband opted for a PBR, and it was only 3$, my RC was refilled gratis. If you pick a snobby beer , you are gonna pay a snobby price. With 35$ including tip (20%), I was happily satiated with my cheesey burger and waffle cut fries. Which I must say were too many to eat on my own. Will be going back.

Not Worth The Time Or Money
Just returned from Kumas and do not know where to begin my review. Kumas is the only reason to be anywhere near Belmont & Francisco avenues, unless you're looking to get mugged or run-over by a custom built motor cycle. (You won't confuse a visit here with a day in Napa Valley!) Second; it seems that the existence of their "patio" means they can no longer handle the regors of take-out. I overheard the hostess tell an inquring patron that they stopped doing "take-0ut" once the patio opened. Third; since reservations are not taken, we had to wait 45 minutes on a sweltering side-walk for a table. Oh, the hostess actually came out to the side-walk to ask that I return the Menu I was reading, because they (the menus) "can't leave the restaurant"...I can assure you, the food list is not written on the back of The Dead Sea Scrolls, so why the fuss!!! Fourth, I found that the beer prices were excessive - I mean really, $9.00 for Weiss beer???? Fifth; we ordered an appetizer and four burgers. The appetizer arrived in a timely manner, but the 4 burgers took almost 50 minutes. When I politely asked our server why the pair next to us were served before us, even though they were seated after we arrived I was told - YES - it had to do with the fact that their burgers were less "well-done" than ours!?!?!?! Oh, by the way, our server had the nerve to ask me if I thought she had "f*cked up". "No!", I said I thought the kitchen had f*cked up, and she was not to blame. [At best, this restaurant can handle 30 - 40 patrons]...When I told her their kitchen and grill were simply too small to handle the 80 or so patrons this night she replied by telling me that a typical wait - once seated - is 45 minutes to 2 hours for food?!?!?! She said customers are willing to endure the wait because they realize that the patio "service" makes the place that much busier. Frankly, the best thing about the place were the crispy chips. I know because I finished the eight (08) that were on my plate...Frankly, there are too many really good small to mid-sized restaurants in Chicago to bother with this place. Staff: pomous, arrogant, inexperienced. Venue: small, dark, and without air-conditioning of any consequence. Burgers: good, but certainly not worth the wait, poor service, price, or the feeling you're sitting in a sauna while you wait. DON'T SAY YOU HAVEN'T BEEN WARNED!!!

Amazing Burgers. Try the Mayhem
Indescribable burgers! Worth the 2 hour wait particularly if you can get outside seating on a great day. Wait staff are chubby and tatooed if that tickles your fancy. They thing they are HOT. Humor them. Go for the food though.

Daaalish
My friend who just graduated from Kendall college told me i had to try this place. Now he is a chef so i would think he knows good food. He was so right!!! The burger was daaalish!!! Also tried the calamari and for 9 bucks. OMG!! So good and so much! I could stop talkin about this place to Co-workers the next day. So much food so cheap! I couldn't finish my burger. So i ate it the next day! And was it still was great.. Only bad thing was the wait to sit (20 minutes thursday at 7pm). Now that i know how good the food is i would wait twice as long! Also the beer was GREAT as well!

Best Burger Menu in Chicago
Went for lunch on a Thursday. Small wait, but well worth it. It was as good as everyone says it is. Had the original kuma burger and loved it, along with the waffle fries. I was even more impressed with the menu and all the different types of burgers they offer. Would like to try the make your own mac & cheese, but the burger was too good.
