Joe's Stone Crab

Every time I walk into this place I feel like a million bucks. The music the lighting, the classic decor. The place jumps. Also, the service level is fabulous and the place is staffed to the teeth. The food is always dependable, delicious, great presentation. The only head scratcher for me is the featured "stone crabs". I honestly don't know what the appeal of those small, crumbly little things is compared to the Alaskan King crab leg which sensational. Steaks are always reliable as well. When my family asks me where I'd like to celebrate my birthday, I always tell'em this is the place.

Every time I visit my daughter in Chicago, I make sure to visit Joe's. The food and service are consistently excellent, it's a "happening" place though not trendy.....just lively and fabulous! Aunt Paulette (the Maitre 'd) sets the bar for warmth and friendliness which just adds to the Joe's experience. It can be no better!!

I can't believe I didn't order seafood here, but one smell of the steak is all it takes. Everything was fantastic. Tables are very tightly packed, so a private or quiet conversation is unlikely

The food here is outstanding, whether you go for Stone Crab claws in season, steaks, or just a delicious Caesar Salad. Stats and Dana are two of the best, friendliest and most accomplished bartenders anywhere. Never had a bad meal here after 20+ visits. Tip, you can order any of the salads or deserts in half orders, makes you feel less guilty for that 1/2 slice of Key Lime Pie.

Dined at Joe's for boyfriend's birthday - our server John was wonderful, and they brought us out a complimentary dessert for our celebration, too. The food is great, the atmosphere is bustling...I think my only complaint is the placement of our table - we were seated right in the middle of a major walkway, lots of action around our table and we would have preferred something more intimate (we did have a reservation, too...and they knew it was for a b-day celebration - a table more "out of the way" would have totally been appreciated). Overall a great place, it's pricey but worth it for a special occasion. Don't miss the key lime pie or the crispy onion strings. Great fresh fish, too...

I waited a long time to eat at Joe's Stone Crab but it was well worth the wait! The food was extremely good even though I didn't have the namesake Stone Crab. My stuffed filet of sole was the best I've ever had and the side dishes were extremely good as well! My daughter's filet mignon & lobster tail were at the very top of the food scale too. This place is a classic and worth the money spent. It's really a place to back to again....and again.

My favorite restaurant in the city... been there a few times and each visit ordered a wide array of selections, each one being great. Crab claws are amazing as advertised, but the crab legs were also delicious.
